Air conditioning for Teddington

Questions from Teddington

Can you do air conditioning in Teddington?

We do: Teddington falls inside our working area. Tell us a little about the job and we will take it from there.

Can I have air conditioning in a flat in Teddington?

Typically, yes, though leaseholders normally need the freeholder’s agreement. Permitted development rules for flats are tighter than for houses, so we check the outdoor unit position and give you the details to send to the freeholder or managing agent.

Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?

We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.

Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?

It depends on the building and the lease. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes, day and night. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we’ll advise on what to do next.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well?

Usually, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?

Normally, yes. The fuse board is checked on the survey, and any electrical work goes on the quote and we install and certify the circuit as NICEIC approved contractors.

Air conditioning in Teddington, done properly

Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with photos of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you will hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Most enquiries from Teddington start with one hot room: a bedroom, a home office or a loft conversion. A single-room split system is often the answer, from £1,200 + VAT.

The electrics are part of the job: a dedicated circuit where the unit needs one, certified under NICEIC, so there’s no separate electrician or building control visit to arrange.

Across London, and in Teddington too, a lot of air conditioning goes into flats and terraces rather than detached houses. So the first questions are where the outdoor unit can sit, how the pipes get to it and whose permission is needed. A freeholder or managing agent often has a say in a flat, so we write up the proposed positions for them to see.

Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: keep the outdoor unit clear, follow the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning and book a service at the interval they recommend. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

The process

The first job on site is protection: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we tidy up before we leave. Pictures of the space and the outside wall help us plan the work in Teddington.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go
  • Let us know where we can park and unload
  • Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records

Air conditioning in Teddington: the local picture

About 46% of homes in and around Teddington were built before 1919, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax records. Older homes often have solid walls, which take longer to core drill, so we plan pipe routes carefully and keep them as discreet as we can. In London, outdoor unit positions, building rules and access tend to need more planning than the install itself.

Strawberry Hill House (roughly 0.8 miles north) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Homes near Christ Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

Let and managed properties

We also work for facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings in Teddington and across Greater London. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

For anyone managing more than one building, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Each property gets its own records, so each one has its own history.

What air conditioning cannot fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different answer:

  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
  • Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
  • An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet

Not sure which it is? You can phone 07833 053749 and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on in Teddington

  • Multi-split systems
  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • VRF systems
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ducted systems
  • Ceiling cassettes

Different systems, different jobs

Offices, shops and commercial rooms

For bigger buildings, VRF systems link many indoor units to shared outdoor plant. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.

Wall-mounted split systems

Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. We choose the position for even airflow and easy filter access, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.

A customer’s words

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
