About air conditioning in TW9
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just ring us on 07833 053749 with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Typical jobs include expensive direct electric heating and an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers, on air-to-air heat pumps, wall-mounted split systems and ceiling cassettes.
Each visit runs to the same pattern: check the plan with you, put the dust sheets down, do the work, check the system and talk you through it. On site, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
How we quote
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why we look at the job first, from pictures or on a survey, and the price is agreed before any work starts.
What you get with us
- Clear warranty information from the manufacturer
- Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba and more
- NICEIC approved for electrical work
- A reply the same working day
How to get a quote
Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.
Around Richmond
Around Richmond, our work takes us to homes and businesses near Kneller Hall Junior School, The Vineyard School and Terrace and Buccleuch Gardens. Nearby too are The Vineyard Church (less than half a mile north-west), The Victoria pub (less than half a mile north-west) and Christ's Church of England Comprehensive Secondary School (0.6 miles east). The nearest railway station is Richmond station, roughly 0.5 miles north. Well-known places in the area include Eel Pie Island Museum (1.2 miles south-west) and South Middlesex Hospital (1.6 miles west). Green spaces nearby include Richmond Hill and Ham Lands.
Where we install in TW9
Planning rules are the same across England, TW9 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work, in TW9 as everywhere else.
Richmond: About 1 mile south stands Pembroke Lodge. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. If you commute from Richmond station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed.
Why act early?
Where the outdoor unit goes matters to you and to the neighbours. A good position keeps noise down and leaves room for servicing, and it can make a difference to planning. It’s agreed on the survey, not on the day.
Questions to ask before you book
- Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
- The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted
- Whether the quote shows VAT clearly
- Exactly what the price includes, from supply and fitting to commissioning
What affects the quote in TW9
Some jobs are bigger than they look, and some smaller. The main factors:
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- How many units are involved
- What electrical work the job needs
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. You’ll have a fixed price before work begins, with VAT shown clearly.
What we need to know
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- The rating plate or label on any existing unit
- Any previous service or F-Gas records
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
- Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
For air conditioning in TW9, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or use the quote form. Let us know the type of property and what you need, plus some photos if they’re to hand. Enquiries get a reply the same working day.
Why it fails
Everything that uses electricity in a room ends up as heat. A home office with a couple of screens, or a meeting room with a few people in it, warms up quickly, even when it isn’t especially hot outside.
The things we’re asked about most are:
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
- Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
- An old system that needs replacing
System by system
Outdoor unit positions
Outdoor units are fitted on wall brackets, at ground level or on a flat roof, depending on the property and the pipe route. It needs space around it to breathe and for an engineer to work on it.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Commercial rooms often need more than one unit and controls that suit how the space is used. Sizing takes account of occupants, equipment and windows, and plan the work so the business keeps running.
FAQs for TW9
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes, always. A new system comes with commissioning details, F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. That isn’t optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
In most cases, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
We agree it with you on the survey. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We’ll tell you what to check before we fit it.
Will you need to do electrical work?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we’re NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.
