How air conditioning works in SW14

Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just give us a ring on 07833 053749 or send an email with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you will hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. The work covers ducted systems, multi-split systems and ceiling cassettes, and the jobs we see most are too many options and no clear advice and an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers.

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. The work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

What affects the price in SW14

Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.

Why choose AirCon Doctor

Getting a price

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us.

Around Mortlake

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around Hare and Hounds pub, Thomson House School and Ibstock Place School. You will also find All Saints' Church (less than half a mile south-east), Richmond Park Academy (under half a mile south-east) and Palewell Park (0.5 miles south). There’s a railway station in Mortlake itself: Mortlake station. Other landmarks nearby include Ubuntu Museum: African Museum of Humanity (1.1 miles south-east) and Barnes Hospital (within half a mile east). For a walk, there’s Richmond Hill and Kew Gardens Lake.

Air conditioning across SW14: local notes

In SW14, we install in places such as Richmond upon Thames, Barnes and Chiswick and well beyond. Every place on our SW14 list (7 in all) is covered.

An F-Gas certified company does the refrigerant side, while NICEIC approval covers the electrical work.

Mortlake: Close to Mortlake station? A small study or box room used for work can usually be cooled with a single indoor unit. If your home is in one of the older streets near All Saints' Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.

Safe owner checks

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

Write down what you notice: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

Why deal with it now?

Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088.

How we price air conditioning

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • Whether the existing supply is suitable
  • The equipment or parts the job needs
  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system

A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. You’ll have a fixed price before any work starts, and the quote sets out the VAT.

What we need to know

What to send for a quote:

  • The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display
  • The fuse board and where it is in the property

Here’s what helps us quote: the address and the type of property, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, ring 07833 053749.

Why it fails

Rooms overheat mostly because of heat they gain during the day. Sun through large windows, roof lights and glazed doors is the biggest source in many rooms, and once the room has warmed up, it holds on to it into the evening.

Common reasons people call us are:

  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
  • An office, shop or restaurant that is uncomfortable for staff and customers
  • Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm

FAQs for SW14

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Every visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and F-Gas documentation included. You get a fixed price before any work starts.

Can you come out in an emergency?

Yes, 24/7. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we will talk you through the next steps.

Will you work on another installer’s system?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?

We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.

Which brands do you work with?

We work with the leading brands, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin and Fujitsu to Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we will take it from there.
