Air conditioning for Chiswick

Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Chiswick

A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, in Chiswick it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.

Top-floor flats and rooms with big south- or west-facing windows tend to be the first to overheat in London. Many people start with one wall-mounted unit in the room that suffers most, and a multi-split can cover more rooms from one outdoor unit where space outside is short.

The records are your system’s health record: what was fitted or found, what was done and when. It makes the next visit quicker and any warranty question simpler, so keep it safe.

Looking after it afterwards

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. A few tips:

  • Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
  • Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
  • Leave space around the outdoor unit

You get the paperwork that matters: F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty terms. File them together as they’re needed for servicing and any warranty question.

Keep the outdoor unit clear. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.

What the work involves, system by system

Outdoor unit positions

Where outside space is tight, the outdoor unit position shapes the whole design. We look at walls, roofs, balconies and yards on the survey and we flag any consent you may need.

Ceiling cassettes

For wide rooms, a cassette spreads the air more evenly than one wall unit, and the slim grille sits neatly in the ceiling.

What affects the cost of air conditioning

The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • What kind of system it is
  • The condition of any existing system
  • Whether it’s a one-off job or part of a maintenance contract

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprises.

Before you get in touch

You don’t need the technical terms. It helps if you can send:

  • The address and the type of property
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display
  • A few pictures of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to do much on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you. Some blocks in Chiswick need contractor details in advance, so tell us what your building needs.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit

Advice

Common questions in Chiswick

Can you fit air conditioning in a London flat in Chiswick?

Normally, yes, though leaseholders normally need the freeholder’s agreement. Permitted development rules for flats are tighter than for houses, so we check the outdoor unit position and give you the details to send to the freeholder or managing agent.

Is Chiswick in your area for air conditioning?

Yes, Chiswick is within the area we cover. Just phone us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form with a few details.

Do you work on all makes?

The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.

Does air conditioning need its own electrical supply?

Most of the time. The fuse board is checked on the survey, and any electrical work goes on the quote, and our NICEIC approval covers the installation and certificate.

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

Typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT for a single-room split, depending on the room, the access and the pipe route. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, while commercial systems are priced after a survey.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Holes and fixings are agreed with you, and we clean up afterwards before we leave.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty comes from the manufacturer and depends on the brand and product. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.

Air conditioning around Chiswick

About 53% of homes in and around Chiswick were built before 1919, according to VOA council tax data, and about 59% of households live in flats, according to Census 2021 figures. Older homes often have solid walls, which take longer to core drill, so we plan pipe routes carefully and keep them as discreet as we can. For a flat, we look at balconies, flat roofs and rear walls for the outdoor unit, and the lease often needs checking first. For a London home, we plan the outdoor unit position, the pipe route and any approvals before the day.

Close to Chiswick station? A small study or box room used for work can normally be cooled with a single indoor unit. About 0.2 miles south-west stands Hogarth's House. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.
