Our air conditioning service in TW13
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust recognises that air-to-air heat pumps often go by the name air conditioning, and a well-chosen system can earn its keep all year round. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, multi-split systems and ducted systems, and common reasons people get in touch are an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers and a study or office that overheats during the day.
You don’t need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and we take it from there. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Air conditioning around TW13
In TW13, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
Message us from anywhere in TW13 and you will hear back the same working day. For a breakdown, use the 24/7 line.
Hanworth: About 2 miles east stands Strawberry Hill House. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Older streets near St Richard's Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
What we are called out for in TW13
Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even on a mild day.
Any of these is worth a proper look:
- A loft conversion that’s too warm to use
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- A system on old refrigerant that is due for replacement
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Running several properties is easier with one contractor. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we are happy to deal with whoever it is.
Different systems, different jobs
Pipework and condensate drains
The indoor and outdoor units are joined by insulated refrigerant pipes, a cable and a condensate drain. We agree the route with you before we drill, and keep it as short and neat as the building allows.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.
Why act early?
There’s a tax point for homes: HMRC zero-rates the installation of energy-saving materials in homes until 31 March 2027, after which the rate becomes 5%. Whether a particular system qualifies depends on the facts and we confirm the VAT on your quote. This is general information, not tax advice.

Your questions about air conditioning in TW13
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.
Will I need planning permission?
Not always. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.
What accreditations do you have?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.
Which type of system should I choose?
It depends on the rooms and the building. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
Do you protect the property while you work?
We start with protection: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
How long will the installation take?
Allow a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. We confirm the time when we quote so there are no surprises.
