Air conditioning in TW19: how it works
Any installation we do in TW19 follows the same process as everywhere else we work: a site survey, or photos for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before any work starts and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. The work covers VRF systems, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems, and people most often call us about rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer.
We book the visit for a day and time that suit you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your photos or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. After that, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
- Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
What affects the price in TW19
What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before we start.

Air conditioning around TW19
In TW19, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
We are based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, TW19 included. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote.
Stanwell: Starting with one room is common, and the outdoor unit can be chosen with more rooms in mind. Older streets near Church of St Mary may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
When something else is needed
Air conditioning can’t fix everything, and we will tell you before work begins. It will not put right:
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
Aftercare tips
Once we have finished, these simple steps help:
- Avoid setting it far colder than you need
- Never run the system with the filters out
- Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
If anything isn’t right after we have gone, call us on the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display, and we’ll talk it through with you.
Set it and leave it. A moderate set temperature cools the room just as well as the lowest one, without the waste and keep doors and windows shut while it runs.
For landlords and property managers
Landlords, letting agents and managing agents book us, not only the people who live or work in the property. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork, and we will keep everyone informed.
We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works, and we will send a fixed-price quote.
Signs you need air conditioning
Many people try a portable unit first. A portable unit has to vent its warm air through a hose out of a window, which lets some heat back in, and its compressor sits in the room with you. With a split system, the compressor lives outside.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Working from home in a room that gets too warm
- A portable unit with a hose out of the window
- An ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life
- Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
Questions from TW19
Can you come out in an emergency?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns that cannot wait. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
Are you F-Gas certified?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.
Will I need planning permission?
That depends on what’s being fitted and where. Heat pumps on houses in England can be permitted development when they meet set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, while a unit that only cools is not covered and needs checking with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls and the lease will say. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes, always. A new system comes with commissioning details, F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.
Do you work on all makes?
We install and work on the leading makes, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Send us the make and model if you have it.
