Air conditioning in SL3: how it works
Any installation we do in SL3 follows the same process as everywhere else we work: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. The work covers ceiling cassettes, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems, and common reasons people get in touch are rooms heated by plug-in heaters and a home office that warms up with screens and equipment.
Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
What you’ll pay
Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.
Why book with us
- One number for homes and businesses across London and the South East

Getting a price
Want a quote for air conditioning? Please give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and tell us about the job. We will explain what we’d recommend and why, then send a fixed-price quote before you commit to anything.
Around Langley
Locally, jobs take us to houses, flats and workplaces close to Ditton Park, Langley Academy and Upton Court Grammar School. Also close by are The Langley Academy Primary (within half a mile south), St Mary the Virgin Church (less than half a mile west) and The Red Lion Public House (less than half a mile west). The closest station to Langley is Langley station, roughly 0.5 miles east of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Windsor Castle (2.7 miles south-west) and Upton Hospital (1.7 miles west). Green spaces nearby include Staines Reservoirs and Uxbridge Moor.
Air conditioning across SL3
In SL3, we install in places such as Langley, Upton and Datchet and well beyond. We cover every place we list for SL3, 18 in all.
SL3 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.
Langley: Living close to St Mary the Virgin Church? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. If you commute from Langley station and work from home on other days, one wall-mounted unit in the home office is often all that is needed.
When something else is needed
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so these are the things it will not cover:
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
Before you call an engineer
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and call 07833 053749.
Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
Leave it or put it right?
Where the outdoor unit goes matters to you and to the neighbours. Placing it well keeps noise away from bedrooms and boundaries and makes servicing easier, and it can affect whether planning permission is needed. It’s agreed on the survey, not on the day.
What your quote should include
- Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
- Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
- Whether anyone has checked the property or the system first
- Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it
Pricing air conditioning in SL3
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We consider:
- The size of the job
- The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
- The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
- What kind of system it is
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. We take each of them into account and give you a fixed price before we start.
Before you get in touch
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- The address and the type of property
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
- A close-up of the unit’s label showing the model number

Common questions in SL3
Is the equipment covered by a warranty?
The manufacturer’s warranty, on the manufacturer’s terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy, so we explain why we’ve chosen a particular output.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls, so check the lease. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
Is SL3 in your area?
Yes. We work in SL3 and the rest of Slough, as part of our area across London and the South East. For a fixed-price quote, phone us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. Noise near bedrooms and boundaries is part of the decision and position can affect planning.
