Air conditioning in TW14: how it works
Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. Each room is assessed for its size, windows, direction and how it’s used, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain before you get a fixed-price quote. The work covers ducted systems, VRF systems and air-to-air heat pumps, and common reasons people get in touch are a portable unit with a hose out of the window and an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers.
Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. On site, it takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
What you’ll pay
Several rooms, units or sites on one quote often makes better use of the time. Mention every unit or room you need covered, and you will get one fixed price.

Air conditioning across TW14: local notes
In TW14, we install in places such as Feltham, Bedfont and Hatton and well beyond. We cover every place we list for TW14, 3 in all.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Feltham: If your home is in one of the older streets near Christ Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. Strawberry Hill House, about 3.5 miles east, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.
Leave it or put it right?
Size matters more than brand. An undersized unit runs hard and still can’t keep the room cool; an oversized one cycles on and off and wastes energy. Sizing each room properly on the survey avoids both.
Questions to ask before you book
- Whether they looked at the job before pricing it
- Who does the electrical work, and whether they can certify it
- How VAT is shown, and which rate applies
- What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
Signs you need air conditioning
Many people try a portable unit first. Portables push their warm air out through a hose in the window, so the window cannot close properly and the noisy part of the unit is in the room. A fixed split system puts the compressor outside.
Reasons to give us a call include:
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- A loft conversion that’s too warm to use
- A business premises that overheats in summer
- An ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life
Honest limits
It’s worth knowing the limits before booking:
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
Aftercare tips
So the system stays in good health:
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings so you know how to get the best from it.
Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.
Your questions about air conditioning in TW14
How much is air conditioning for one room?
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. The price is fixed before we start.
Which accreditations do you hold?
As the law requires for refrigerant work, we are an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
In most cases, yes: modern splits are typically heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
For some brands, yes. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we will explain them and stick to the interval they set.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
Which type of system should I choose?
The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.
