Air conditioning for Pixham

Pixham questions

Will you come out to Pixham?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Is Pixham in your area for air conditioning?

We do: Pixham falls inside our working area. To start, phone 07833 053749 or send an email with a few pictures.

What accreditations do you have?

F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?

In most cases, yes: modern splits are usually heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Larger systems need regular checks: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.

How do you keep the place clean during the work?

We start with protection: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.

Where will you put the outdoor unit?

We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.

About our air conditioning in Pixham

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. Air conditioning installation in Pixham starts with a site survey, then a fixed-price quote that names the make and model.

Sizing is where cheap installs go wrong: we look at the room’s size, windows, insulation and use before choosing a unit.

In a village like Pixham, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules do not apply to it, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.

We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Keeping the system healthy

Every system needs looking after, and most of it is easy. Our tips:

  • Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
  • Wash or vacuum the filters as the manual describes
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter

We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, or as the manual recommends, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.

Report drips, noises or error codes early. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault, and early repairs are typically simpler.

The process

Protection comes first: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work, and we ask before moving anything. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. The work on site takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we clear up before we go. Photos of the existing unit help with repairs and servicing in Pixham.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Move furniture away from the wall where we’ll be working
  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property

Why it’s worth doing now in Pixham

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg cannot use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. A system that’s left with a fault, or without a service, usually costs more to run.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are unsure, phone 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed price.

What you get with us

Owner checks or an engineer?

Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and give us a ring on 07833 053749.
