Air conditioning in Peaslake

Any installation we do in Peaslake follows the same process as everywhere else we work: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. When someone in Peaslake asks us for air con, the first questions are normally price and who will fit it. We publish typical prices and do the refrigerant work as an F-Gas certified company.

Getting the size right matters more than the brand: we look at the room’s size, windows, insulation and use before choosing a unit.

For a home in or near Peaslake, an air-to-air system can cool in summer and heat in the cooler months, which suits garden rooms, lofts and extensions that the main heating struggles with.

The records are your system’s health record: a dated account of the work and the readings we took. If anything goes wrong later, it helps the next engineer and the manufacturer, so keep it safe.

What we are called out for in Peaslake

Everything that uses electricity in a room ends up as heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even on a mild day.

These are the situations we see most often:

  • A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
  • Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
  • Not knowing which system, size or brand to choose

Homes near Church of St Mark are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long
  • The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted
  • Whether they looked at the job before pricing it

How to choose an air conditioning engineer

Why deal with it now?

Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

Leaving a fault or an overdue service rarely makes the work cheaper. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are not sure what’s needed, call us on 07833 053749 and we’ll give you an honest view and a fixed price.

Why us?

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Do not move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Disconnecting a system means dealing with refrigerant, which only a qualified engineer can do, and the electrics need care too. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If a breaker trips again after you reset it, leave it off and call 07833 053749 or email us.

Questions from Peaslake

Can you do air conditioning in Peaslake?

Yes. We work across London and the South East from our base in East Grinstead, and Peaslake is part of that. Just phone 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few details.

Do you cover smaller places like Peaslake?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. Send a few details and photos, and we reply the same working day.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

Floor area is only part of it. Glazing, orientation, the roof and what goes on in the room all affect it, and we take them all into account on the survey.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We’re an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.

Can we book visits on a schedule?

Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used, and we’ll suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.

How it works

Wherever the system can be run before we leave, we run it and check it in operation. Then we explain what was done and answer your questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. Rural lanes and tight entrances are worth mentioning before a visit to Peaslake.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Before we arrive

  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Tell us about any building rules, permits or sign-in

Advice

Air conditioning around Peaslake

The Peaslake Conservation Area lies close to the centre of Peaslake, within about a third of a mile. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 17 within half a mile of the centre, such as Lindeth Cottage (grade II). None of this rules air conditioning out. It just means the planning position is checked before anyone suggests a spot for the outdoor unit. About 38% of homes in and around Peaslake were built before 1919, according to the Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures, and about 80% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. Older properties often mean solid walls and period details, so pipe runs are planned to stay neat and out of sight. Detached and semi-detached houses typically have space for the outdoor unit, and several rooms can share one on a multi-split.

With historic houses such as Chilworth Manor about 4.2 miles north-west, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.
