Air conditioning in West End

How it works

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and the electrics are made safe before any panel comes off. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access. Work in West End is booked in advance at a time that suits you.

  1. First comes a site survey, or photos and measurements for a straightforward job.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them

Advice

About our air conditioning in West End

We install leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. We recommend a model on the survey and explain why it suits the room, along with the manufacturer’s warranty terms on your quote. Air con, air conditioning, a split system: whatever you call it, it’s the job we do every week across Surrey.

The electrics are part of the job: a dedicated circuit where the unit needs one, certified under NICEIC, so there’s no separate electrician or building control visit to arrange.

For a home in or near West End, an air-to-air system can cool in summer and heat in the cooler months, which suits garden rooms, lofts and extensions that the main heating struggles with.

We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Our engineers hold the F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.

Questions from West End

Is West End within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

Is air conditioning in West End permitted development?

There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. The West End Conservation Area takes in the middle of West End. An air-to-air system used for heating as well as cooling can be permitted development on a house if it meets the conditions, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with the planning department at Elmbridge council, usually the authority for West End.

What does F-Gas certified mean?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. It’s worth checking before you book and we will gladly show you ours.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.

What warranty do I get?

Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.

Who is responsible for leak checks?

The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

Air conditioning around West End

Census 2021 figures found about 65% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. Detached and semi-detached houses normally have space for the outdoor unit, and several rooms can share one on a multi-split.

The Homewood (roughly 1 mile south-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on. Around St George's, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install.

West End is about 1 mile south-west of Esher, in Surrey. Whether you are in the middle of West End or further out, our engineers cover air conditioning, from a single room to a whole building. West End is one of 395 places in Surrey where we work. Croydon, roughly 12 miles off, has its own page on this site.

Our nearest recent job to West End was on High Street, Esher (KT10), about 1 mile north-east: installing a Daikin VRF system serving the dining room, private dining room and bar area: five indoor units in total. Read more

Esher Road, Garson Road and Lammas Lane and the roads off them are all inside our area. If your postcode is in KT10 and KT12, we can take the job on. For landlords and property managers

Under the GB F-gas rules, responsibility for leak checks is shared between whoever operates the equipment and the engineers who work on it. Where a building is let or managed, the lease or contract should make clear who looks after the system, and we can work for either side.

We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed-price quote.

Leave it or put it right?

For a home or business in West End, booking the survey now gives time to plan. Installation takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer, and the date is agreed with you once you are happy with the quote. A system that is left with a fault, or without a service, normally costs more to run.

Several rooms, units or sites on one quote can make for a more efficient booking. Tell us about everything you’d like looked at and we will price it together.
