How air conditioning works in KT22
We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. We’re often asked to deal with an old system that needs replacing and a business premises that overheats in summer, across VRF systems, ducted systems and air-to-air heat pumps.
The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your pictures or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. After that, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.
What you’ll pay
Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all make a difference.
What you get with us

Ask for a quote
Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and many jobs can be priced from that.

Leatherhead: If you work from home near Leatherhead station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Polesden Lacey (roughly 3.4 miles south-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
Signs you need air conditioning
Many people try a portable unit first. A portable unit has to vent its warm air through a hose out of a window, which lets some heat back in, and its compressor sits in the room with you. With a split system, the compressor lives outside.
These are the situations we see most often:
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- An old system that needs replacing
- A study or office that overheats during the day
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.
Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
Aftercare tips
After the visit, a few habits help:
- Have the system serviced once a year
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Use moderate settings for comfort and economy
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
We clear up before we go: sheets removed, packaging cleared up and pipe holes sealed. Pipework outside is covered in trunking or insulated and neatly fixed as agreed on the survey.
Report drips, noises or error codes early. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault, and early repairs are usually simpler.
Different systems, different jobs
Electrical supply
A dedicated circuit is normally needed. As NICEIC approved contractors, we install it and issue the certificate and that covers the Part P side.
Outdoor unit positions
The outdoor unit can go on a wall bracket, on the ground or on a flat roof, depending on the property and the pipe route. It needs airflow around it and room for servicing.
Questions from KT22
How long will the installation take?
Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer and the quote says how long to expect.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
Do you work in KT22?
Yes. Our engineers work in KT22, within the South East and London area we cover. We are based in East Grinstead, West Sussex.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, typically whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.
Can I do any of the installation myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
Do you protect the property while you work?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
