How air conditioning works in Oxfordshire
Any installation we do in Oxfordshire follows the same process as everywhere else we work: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, and common reasons people get in touch are uncertainty over the right type and size of system and commercial rooms that are too warm for staff.
There’s very little for you to do on the day. Someone needs to let us in and show us the units, or where they’re going, and we take it from there. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we have done.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.
What you’ll pay
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before work begins.

Landmarks near Oxford
Typical jobs here are in properties near Headington Rye Oxford, Alexander Library of Ornithology and South Park and the streets around them. Nearby too are East Oxford Primary School (within half a mile south-west), Cheney School (under half a mile east), The Star pub (within half a mile west) and St Clement's Church (less than half a mile north-west). The nearest railway station is Oxford station, roughly 1.6 miles west. Nearby you’ll also find Warneford Hospital (under half a mile east) and Rumble Museum (within half a mile east). The countryside around Oxford includes CS Lewis Nature Reserve and Headington Hill.
Air conditioning across Oxfordshire
From Oxford, Banbury and Didcot outwards, Oxfordshire has every kind of home. We survey every property before we quote, then a fixed-price quote.
Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and Oxfordshire sits within it. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.
Oxford: Around St Clement's Church, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. Holywell Manor, about 0.8 miles north-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.
What the work involves, system by system
Electrical supply
We check the consumer unit on the survey, so the quote covers any electrical work needed. Older boards sometimes need more work to take a new circuit and we will tell you if yours does.
Multi-split systems
You can mix indoor unit types on many multi-split systems, choosing what suits each room, as the manufacturer allows. We plan the mix on the survey.
Pricing air conditioning in Oxfordshire
Our prices page gives typical ranges, and your quote is built on your job. The quote depends on:
- What state the existing equipment is in
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- Access, including height, roofs and ladders
- How far the pipework has to run, and where
Leaving a fault or an overdue service rarely makes the work cheaper. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a struggling system uses more electricity to do less. If you are not sure what’s needed, ring 07833 053749 or drop us a line for straight advice and a fixed price.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:
- Any previous service or F-Gas records
- Your consumer unit or fuse board
- The remote or wall controller showing any error
- Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Tell us the address and what you need, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.
Rented and managed buildings
Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: systems with an effective rated output over 12 kW need a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor at least every 5 years. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.
Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Oxfordshire. Work can be phased by floor, zone or building to keep disruption down.
When something else is needed
We won’t sell you work that doesn’t address the problem, so these are the things it will not cover:
- Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
Common questions in Oxfordshire
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and we’re NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
Not the refrigerant work. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
How do I know what size unit to get?
Floor area is only part of it. Windows, the direction the room faces, the roof above and the people and equipment in it all count and the survey covers each of them.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is written up and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
