How it works
There’s very little for you to do on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. Before we leave, the area is tidied and we explain what we have done. Getting to the outside of the property matters more than parking in a place like Headington.
- We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
- Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions near the property
- Let us know where the consumer unit is
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process

We are based in East Grinstead and cover London and the South East, with a fixed-price quote before any work starts.
Most single-room installs in Headington are done in a day, with multi-room systems taking longer depending on pipe routes, and we leave the room clean and the controls explained.
A cottage and a newer house near Headington are very different jobs. Thick walls and beams mean planning the pipe route carefully, and if the home is listed, consent comes before any work.
For a fault on a system that may still be under warranty, send us the make, model and installation date. We will tell you how the manufacturer’s warranty is likely to apply before any chargeable work goes ahead.

An honest diagnosis matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what this work can’t put right:

Signs you need air conditioning in Headington
Commercial spaces gain heat from people, equipment, lighting and glazing. Comfortable staff and customers are the usual reason businesses get in touch, along with keeping equipment rooms at a steady temperature.
Customers normally contact us when they notice one of these:
- Bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer
- Not knowing which system, size or brand to choose
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
Older streets near St Andrew's Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
What your quote should include
- Whether the price is fixed or an estimate
- If the quote is based on a survey, photos or a diagnosis
- Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications

Why deal with it now?
Fans and portables move warm air around rather than removing it. A fixed system removes the heat to the outside, runs more quietly in the room and can typically heat as well, so it works for you in winter as well. Dealing with it now is usually simpler than a breakdown later.
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.
Why us?
- F-Gas certified company
- Covering London and the South East
- Manufacturer’s warranty terms explained on your quote
- Leading brands including Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Fujitsu

Headington: your questions answered
Do you cover Headington for air conditioning?
Yes. Headington is one of the places we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.
Is air conditioning in Headington permitted development?
It depends on the property. The centre of Headington is in the Old Headington Conservation Area. Put simply: reversible systems on houses can be permitted development, cooling-only ones cannot, listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit outdoor units facing a road. When your property needs a decision, we contact the planning department at Oxford City council, usually the authority for Headington.
How quickly will you reply?
You will hear from us the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.
Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?
That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and F-Gas documentation included. The price is fixed before any work starts.
Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. How often depends on the size of the refrigerant charge in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least yearly for 5 to under 50 tCO2e, and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
From one of our customers
“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
