Air conditioning installation in New Hinksey, Oxfordshire
Air conditioning across New Hinksey and nearby, from a site survey or diagnosis to sign-off with the price fixed before work begins.
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
Air conditioning in New Hinksey, done properly
The best installations are planned before a single hole is drilled. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, and we agree the unit positions and the route for the pipes, cable and drain before you get a fixed-price quote. Most enquiries from New Hinksey start with one hot room: a bedroom, a home office or a loft conversion. That is typically a single wall-mounted split, from £1,200 + VAT.
In a place like New Hinksey, the outdoor unit often goes on the ground at the side or rear of the house, where it’s tucked away but still easy to reach for servicing.
Refrigerant work is written up in the F-Gas records: the work carried out, the refrigerant involved and the quantities. File them with the system’s paperwork, ready for the next service or a warranty query.

How the visit works
Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. So on the day, you do not need a separate electrician for the electrical side. On site, it takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. We load the van from the survey notes so the work in New Hinksey can be done in one go where possible.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them

New Hinksey: your questions answered
Do you cover New Hinksey for air conditioning?
Yes, New Hinksey is within the area we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.
Will you come out to New Hinksey?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, either on a site survey or from photos and details for simple jobs. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.
Do I need planning permission?
That depends on what’s being fitted and where. In England, an air source heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit is not covered, so check with the council. Flats, listed buildings and conservation areas have tighter rules. This is general information, not legal advice.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.
What air conditioning cannot fix
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- Building damp that has a structural cause
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
If you are not sure, just give us a ring on 07833 053749 and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How we price air conditioning
Jobs vary more than people expect. What affects the quote:
- What kind of system it is
- The size of the job
- Access, including height, roofs and ladders
What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
What we need to know
There’s no need for technical detail. It helps if you can send:
- The postcode and whether it’s a home, flat or business
- Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
- The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.
How the job changes from property to property
Pipework and condensate drains
Cooling produces water as the air is dried, which the condensate drain takes away. Where it can’t fall naturally to a drain, a condensate pump lifts it, and we plan that on the survey.
Ceiling cassettes
Cassettes are good at even airflow across a large floor area, and the slim grille sits neatly in the ceiling.
What an install looks like in New Hinksey
2 conservation areas lie within a mile of central New Hinksey. About 13 listed entries lie within half a mile of central New Hinksey, Church of St Lawrence (grade II*) among them. Heritage protection changes what an install can involve, so the survey looks at your address first and tells you plainly whether consent is likely. VOA council tax data put about 39% of homes in and around New Hinksey before 1919, and about 41% of households live in terraced houses, according to the last census (2021). Older properties often mean solid walls and period details, so pipe runs are planned to stay neat and out of sight. With a terrace, the back wall or an extension roof is typically the best place for the outdoor unit.
Living close to Church of St John the Evangelist? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. About 1.4 miles north stands Holywell Manor. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.
