Air conditioning in Chinnor

About our air conditioning in Chinnor

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. Modern air conditioning heats as well as cools: in heating mode they work as an air-to-air heat pump, so a system bought for summer earns its keep in winter too.

The electrics are part of the job: a dedicated circuit where the unit needs one, certified under NICEIC, so the electrical paperwork comes with the installation.

In a smaller place like Chinnor, most installs are in houses and cottages, often with gardens, which typically leaves room for an outdoor unit. The wall type and how the electrics reach the unit are often the main things to check.

Equipment warranty comes from the manufacturer, on its own terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Each brand sets its own conditions, so we go through them with you rather than leave you to find the small print.

Owner checks or an engineer?

Some faults have simple causes you can check first: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and phone 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.

When it’s something else

Some problems need a different service or another trade:

  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
  • Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
  • A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)

Not sure which it is? You can call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Outdoor unit positions

We think about noise when we choose the spot: away from bedroom windows and neighbours’ windows where possible, and on anti-vibration mounts. It can also affect whether planning permission is needed.

Electrical supply

A dedicated circuit is normally needed. We are NICEIC approved, so we fit and certify the circuit ourselves, which takes care of the Part P notification.

What happens on the day

The first job on site is protection: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby and nothing is moved without asking you. Then the electrics are made safe and the work begins. It takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access, and we clear up before we go. Photos of the existing unit and its label help with repairs and servicing near Chinnor.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

How to prepare

  • Make sure someone can let us in at the agreed time
  • Clear a path to the units and the space around them
  • Unlock any gate, garage or side passage we need

Getting a quote

To help us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, phone us on 07833 053749 or email us.

Questions from Chinnor

Will air conditioning in Chinnor need planning permission?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Around 28 listed entries sit within 0.5 miles of central Chinnor. Put simply: reversible systems on houses can be permitted development, cooling-only ones can’t, listed buildings need consent, and conservation areas limit outdoor units facing a road. When your property needs a decision, we contact the planning department at South Oxfordshire council, usually the authority for Chinnor.

Can you do air conditioning in Chinnor?

We do: Chinnor falls inside our working area. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so it’s worth checking. Either way, keep a record of every service.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.

Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?

The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It must have clear airflow and space for servicing, and a position facing a road can bring extra planning considerations. We will tell you what to check before we fit it.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. It’s your proof of what was done: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.

Which accreditations do you hold?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we’re an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

Air conditioning in Chinnor: local notes

About 75% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to the last census (2021). A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.

About 3.6 miles west stands Adwell House. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Older streets near Church of St Andrew may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
