How air conditioning works in OX39
Across OX39, every installation follows the same steps: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. We are often asked to deal with a room that’s unbearable on warm days and portable units that are noisy and barely cope, across multi-split systems, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems.
Think of the visit in three stages: look, put right and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then we do the work, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. The middle part takes longest, which takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.
What affects the price in OX39
The cost depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

How to get a quote
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we’ve looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To start, ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.
Landmarks near Chinnor
Around Chinnor, our work takes us to homes and businesses near Church of St Andrew, The Crown pub and St Andrew's Church of England Primary School. Chinnor’s nearest station is Princes Risborough station, about 3.1 miles north-east. Other landmarks nearby include Thame Community Hospital (4 miles north-west). For a walk, there’s Bald Hill and Oakley Hill nature reserve.
Air conditioning across OX39
From Chinnor, Oakley and Kingston Blount outwards, OX39 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
Across London and the South East, we reply to enquiries the same working day, with a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns.
Chinnor: Older streets near Church of St Andrew may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. Adwell House (roughly 3.6 miles west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
Owner care supports servicing; it does not replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you can’t see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
Leave the units and pipework where they are. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.
Common problems we fix in OX39
Some people come to us for heating rather than cooling. Direct electric heaters convert electricity into heat one for one, while an air-to-air heat pump moves heat from outside, which means more heat out than electricity in. Most modern split systems work this way.
Reasons to give us a call include:
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- A business premises that overheats in summer
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
Looking after it afterwards
Simple habits make a real difference. We recommend:
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Have the system serviced once a year
- Never run the system with the filters out
- Do not cover or box in the outdoor unit
Questions after the installation go to the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display, and we’ll talk it through with you.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.
Leave it or put it right?
Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant cannot use F gases with a GWP above 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088.
What your quote should include
- If the quote is based on a survey, photos or a diagnosis
- What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
- Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
- Whether they hold F-Gas company certification, not just individual qualifications
Questions from OX39
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. Any work is priced before it goes ahead.
Which type of system should I choose?
It depends on the rooms and the building. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.
How does the warranty work?
It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning and we explain the terms for your brand on the quote.
Can landlords and managing agents book you?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we will tell you what to do first.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
Most of the time, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Keep every service record either way.
