Our air conditioning service in OX49
Think of it as diagnose, treat and sign off: the survey diagnoses what the rooms need, the installation is the treatment and commissioning is the sign-off. At sign-off, the system is tested in each mode, the controls are explained and the F-Gas records are left with you. Typical jobs include an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers and fans and portables that don’t keep up, on ceiling cassettes, air-to-air heat pumps and VRF systems.
The visit has three parts, a bit like a doctor’s appointment: diagnose, treat and sign off. First we check the system or the space against the plan, then we do the work, and finally we test, record and explain. Most of the time goes on the middle part, and that takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.
Pricing in OX49
The cost depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. We give you a fixed price before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Around Watlington
In Watlington, that means homes and buildings near Royal Oak pub, St Mary's Church and Icknield Community College, among other places. Nearby too are Watlington Primary School (under half a mile north) and Church of St Leonard (less than half a mile north-west). Green spaces nearby include Aston Rowant NNR and Bald Hill.
Air conditioning around OX49
In OX49, we install in places such as Watlington, Aston Rowant and Lewknor and well beyond. Every place on our OX49 list (9 in all) is covered.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Watlington: Homes near Church of St Leonard are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. With historic houses such as Adwell House about 3.2 miles north, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.
Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is straightforward, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Don’t cover or box in the outdoor unit
- Let filters dry fully before you put them back
We recommend an annual service, and some manufacturers make servicing a warranty condition. We can remind you when it’s due, so it does not get forgotten.
Have the system serviced once a year. A service cleans what you can’t reach and picks up faults before they stop the system and keeps the warranty paperwork right where servicing is a condition.
Why it fails
Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even on a mild day.
These are the situations we see most often:
- An office, shop or restaurant that is uncomfortable for staff and customers
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
How we price air conditioning
A fixed price needs a few facts first. We look at:
- What state the existing equipment is in
- The number of rooms, units or zones
- The equipment or parts the job needs
- The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Call for a fixed-price quote and we’ll go through it with you.
What we need to know
A few details help us quote accurately. When you get in touch, it helps to send:
- Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
- A photo of the consumer unit with the cover closed
- A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
- The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
The quickest way to a quote is to send pictures: the room or the existing unit, the outside wall or roof where the outdoor unit sits or would go, and the label on any existing unit. Tell us the address and what you need, and many jobs can be priced from that.
Honest limits
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
OX49 questions
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.
What accreditations do you have?
We hold F-Gas company certification, which the law requires for any business working on refrigerant. We are also NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and Checkatrade members.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so it’s worth checking. Keep every service record either way.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Will I need planning permission?
It depends on the system and the property. In England, an air source heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit is not covered, so check with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you work in OX49?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, and that includes OX49.
Can I have air conditioning in a flat?
Often, yes, but there are extra steps. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls, so check the lease. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, and we flag anything that may need permission. This is general information, not legal advice.
