Salford questions

Do you cover smaller places like Salford?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Send a few details and pictures, and we reply the same working day.

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Salford?

The answer turns on the property and where the outdoor unit would sit. Around 6 listed entries sit within 0.5 miles of central Salford. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and isn’t used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof is not allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask the local planning authority (for Salford, usually West Oxfordshire council).

Which accreditations do you hold?

AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for problems that cannot wait for a planned visit. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

It takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. We confirm the time when we quote so there are no surprises.

Does air conditioning work as heating?

In most cases, yes. Running as a heat pump, it moves heat in from outside rather than making it from electricity alone. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.

How much is air conditioning for one room?

Typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT for a single-room split, depending on the room, the access and the pipe route. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, and commercial systems are priced after a survey.

Air conditioning installation in Salford

Any installation we do in Salford follows the same process as everywhere else we work: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. Looking for air con installers near Salford? We’re based in East Grinstead and cover London and the South East, with a fixed-price quote before any work starts.

Homes around Salford normally have room outside for an outdoor unit. The questions are more often the age of the walls, the electrics and how far the pipes need to run.

Some warranty terms depend on the system being serviced regularly by a qualified engineer. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order and each visit is recorded.

How the visit works

Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. We agree a date with you and plan the visit to Salford so we arrive with what’s needed.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

How to prepare

  • Clear access to the fuse board
  • Make sure we can reach the outdoor unit, or where it will go
  • Keep pets out of the rooms we’re working in

Getting a price

Different systems, different jobs

Ceiling cassettes

A cassette sits flush in a suspended ceiling and spreads air in several directions, which suits offices, shops and open-plan spaces.

Ducted systems

Ducted air conditioning hides the indoor unit in a ceiling void or loft, and all you see is a discreet grille. It’s popular where people do not want a unit on the wall.

Let and managed properties

We also work for facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings across Oxfordshire. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

Where a tenant occupies the property but the landlord owns the system, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.

Looking after your system

Looking after it is simple, and it helps at the next service:

  • File the paperwork with the manual
  • Book an annual service
  • Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest

The handover includes the records you need: F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty terms. Keep them with the manual as they’re needed for servicing and any warranty question.

Set it and leave it. A moderate set temperature cools the room just as well as the lowest one, without the waste and keep doors and windows shut while it runs.

From one of our customers

“Office air con broke down in the July heatwave. Called at 8am, engineer was here by noon and fixed within 2 hours. Brilliant emergency response. They now hold the service contract for the whole building.”
