About our air conditioning in Woodstock

Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just ring 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with photos of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Looking for air con installers near Woodstock? AirCon Doctor works across London and the South East from East Grinstead, as an F-Gas certified company with NICEIC approval.

Most installations here are a wall-mounted indoor unit, a short pipe run through the wall and an outdoor unit on the back or side of the property, with the drain run planned so it never drips where it shouldn’t.

In a place like Woodstock, the outdoor unit often goes on the ground at the side or rear of the house, where it’s out of sight from the road and easy to service.

Aftercare is simple, and most of it is in the manual: clear space around the outdoor unit, the cleaning the manual describes and a service at the recommended interval. That also helps where the warranty terms ask for regular servicing.

What an install looks like in Woodstock

About 66% of households live in detached or semi-detached houses, according to Census 2021 figures. With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it.

Living close to Church of St Mary Magdalene? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Blenheim Palace, about 0.8 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.

Woodstock is about 7 miles north-east of Witney, in Oxfordshire. Whether you are in the middle of Woodstock or further out, we cover air conditioning, from small jobs to large ones. We cover 443 places across Oxfordshire. Guildford, roughly 53 miles off, has its own page on this site.

All of OX20 is within our area. Getting to Woodstock is easy by the A44. Neighbouring places we cover include Bladon (1 mile south), Bunkers Hill (2 miles north-east), Shipton-on-Cherwell (2 miles east), Thrupp (2 miles east) and Begbroke (2 miles south-east). Larger places within reach include Oxford (8 miles south-east), Banbury (15 miles north), Bicester (9 miles north-east) and Abingdon-on-Thames (12 miles south).

Landmarks near Woodstock

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around The Punchbowl Inn and Marlborough School. For rail, the closest station is Hanborough station, about 2 miles south-west. A little further out are Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum (0.5 miles west).

Why act early in Woodstock

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, which is why R32, with a GWP of 675, is now common. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. Small faults tend to grow, so it’s worth dealing with them early.

The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before work begins.

What we do, step by step

The visit goes in the diary at a time that works for you, and we keep you posted if anything changes. On arrival, the engineer compares the job with the survey, your photos or the details you gave us. If something is different, we talk it through with you before carrying on. From there, the work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. Because we plan from pictures or a survey, a job in Woodstock can typically be finished in one visit.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
  4. Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
  5. We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if the units are on a roof, a high wall or in a locked area
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
  • Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go

How to get a quote

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Woodstock questions

Can I fit air conditioning in Woodstock without planning permission?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Around 127 listed entries sit within 0.5 miles of central Woodstock. A system that heats as well as cools may not need an application on a house, provided it stays within the permitted development limits. Cooling-only units get no such allowance, and listed buildings and road-facing positions in conservation areas need more care. We speak to West Oxfordshire council, which is normally the planning authority for Woodstock when it matters.

Is Woodstock within the area you cover?

Yes, and the size of the place makes no difference to how we work. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

How long does it take to fit air conditioning?

Allow anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. We confirm the time when we quote, so you can plan around it.

Will you need to do electrical work?

In most cases, yes: a dedicated circuit is needed. Under Part P, a new circuit has to be notified unless a registered competent person does it, and we are NICEIC approved, so we can install and certify it.

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. For simple jobs, photos and a few details can be enough, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

How much is air conditioning for one room?

Single-room systems start from £1,200 + VAT and are typically up to £2,200 + VAT. The price includes supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation, and we fix it after a survey or from your photos.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Looking after your system

How well a system lasts depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • File the paperwork with the manual
  • Book an annual service
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter

Commissioning is the last stage: every mode is tested before we go. We check it’s running as the manufacturer intends, then show you the controls and the timer, so you’re confident using it.

Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.

Safe owner checks

Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. They come out, get a gentle clean and go back only when they’re dry. On a heat pump, the equivalent is keeping the outdoor unit clear and checking the controls.

From one of our customers

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
