Air conditioning installation in Coscote, Oxfordshire
Air conditioning in and around Coscote, from a site survey or diagnosis to sign-off with the price fixed before work begins.
- A study or office that overheats during the day
- A system on old refrigerant that is due for replacement
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
Air conditioning in Coscote, done properly
Good air conditioning starts with the right system in the right place. We look at each room’s size, glazing, orientation and use, then agree where the indoor and outdoor units go and how the pipework, cable and condensate drain will run, all before the price is fixed. A lot of the calls we get from Coscote are about one room that’s too hot to sleep or work in. A single-room split system is often the answer, from £1,200 + VAT.
Sizing is where cheap installs go wrong: the survey covers room size, glazing, insulation and how the room is used, so the unit isn’t too big or too small.
Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Coscote. The questions are more often the age of the walls, the electrics and how far the pipes need to run.
Warranty periods vary by brand and by product. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, with longer extensions only on its air-to-water heat pumps. For any other brand, we explain the manufacturer’s terms on your quote.

What happens on the day
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. Photos of the room and the outside of the property help us plan a visit to Coscote.
- First the diagnosis: a survey of the rooms, the walls, the outside and the electrics.
- Then the prescription: the right system and size for each room, on a fixed-price quote.
- The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
- Testing: the circuit is pressure tested and evacuated before the refrigerant is released.
- The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.
How to prepare
- Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
- Keep pets out of the rooms we are working in

Advice
Coscote questions
Will you come out to Coscote?
We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few photos and the postcode are enough to get things started.
Can you do air conditioning in Coscote?
We do: Coscote falls inside our working area. Tell us a little about the job and we will take it from there.
What does it cost to install air conditioning?
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. You get a fixed price before any work starts.
What size air conditioning unit do I need?
Sizing is done on the survey, room by room. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
In most cases, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. To replace your main heating, there are extra conditions, including for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.
Before you call an engineer
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
Air conditioning around Coscote
VOA council tax data date about 55% of homes across Coscote and its surrounding area to the post-war years, 1945 to 1972, and the last census (2021) found about 75% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. We check the wall construction on homes of that age, as it decides how the pipework goes through. With homes like that, finding a sensible outdoor unit position is rarely hard, and a multi-split lets two or more rooms run off it. Roughly a third of a mile or less from central Coscote, you reach the West Hagbourne Conservation Area. Draw a one-mile circle round the middle of Coscote and it takes in 2 conservation areas. About 19 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Coscote, Church of St Andrew (grade I) among them. Before any outdoor unit is fixed here, we find out whether the building is protected. Where it is, the local planning authority (typically South Oxfordshire council) has the final say on what’s allowed.
If your home is in one of the older streets near Church of St Andrew, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.

What air conditioning cannot fix
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so these are the things it won’t cover:
- A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
If you’re not sure, just call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we will give you a straight answer.

Do you need air conditioning in Coscote?
In shops, offices and restaurants, the heat comes from customers, staff, equipment and lighting as well as the sun. Comfortable staff and customers are the usual reason businesses get in touch, and some rooms need cooling for the equipment as much as the people.
Common reasons people call us are:
- A study or office that overheats during the day
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
Brightwell Manor, about 4.1 miles east, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.
Questions to ask before booking
- How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
- Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it
- What’s in the price and what isn’t

“Very professional from the initial survey through to installation. The engineer explained everything clearly and the quote was exactly what we paid. Would not hesitate to recommend AirCon Doctor.”
