Air con installers in East Lockinge

Any installation we do in East Lockinge follows the same process as everywhere else we work: a site survey, or pictures for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before work begins and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, it’s the job we do every week across Oxfordshire.

Many installs in East Lockinge can go ahead as permitted development, but listed buildings, conservation areas and flats need more care: we tell you at the survey if it applies.

For a home in or near East Lockinge, an air-to-air system can cool in summer and heat in the cooler months, which suits garden rooms, lofts and extensions that the main heating struggles with.

Warranty on the equipment is the manufacturer’s own, on the manufacturer’s terms, and we explain those terms on your quote. Terms differ from brand to brand, and we’re happy to talk you through them.

Air conditioning in East Lockinge: local notes

The Valuation Office Agency’s council tax figures show about 31% of homes in and around East Lockinge were built in 2000 or later. Newer homes usually have cavity walls and loft space that make pipe runs easier, though some estates have planning conditions or covenants worth checking.

A loft bedroom or a glazed extension is often the room that prompts the first call. Older streets near Church of All Saints may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.

Ceiling cassettes

A cassette needs a void above the ceiling for the unit, pipework and drain, with a condensate pump where the drain can’t fall naturally. We check the ceiling void on the survey.

Outdoor unit positions

Where outside space is tight, the outdoor unit position shapes the whole design. Every option is checked on the survey, and tell you about any permissions you may need.

Your questions about air conditioning in East Lockinge

Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in East Lockinge?

It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. Around 13 listed entries sit within 0.5 miles of central East Lockinge. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and isn’t used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof isn’t allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask Vale of White Horse council, which is usually the planning authority for East Lockinge.

Can you do air conditioning in East Lockinge?

Yes, East Lockinge is within the area we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting and managing agents, and businesses of every size in East Lockinge and across Oxfordshire. Tell us who should receive the paperwork.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.

What size air conditioning unit do I need?

We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy, so we explain why we have chosen a particular output.

How long does it take to fit air conditioning?

Allow anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. The survey tells us how long your installation will need so there are no surprises.

What affects the cost of air conditioning

Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The number of rooms, units or zones
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where

What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and what the work involves. You get a fixed price before work begins, so you know where you stand.

What to send for a quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to have:

  • Your consumer unit or fuse board
  • Any previous service or F-Gas records
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it

If you need air conditioning in East Lockinge, call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk. Let us know the type of property and what you need, and send a few pictures if you can. Enquiries get a reply the same working day.

What happens if it’s left?

New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. A dirty or faulty system works harder and costs more to run.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a struggling system uses more electricity to do less. If you are not sure what’s needed, phone us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier and we will give you an honest view and a fixed price.

What we do, step by step

If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before any work starts, so you can plan around it. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. Visits to East Lockinge are agreed with you in advance and planned so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
  4. We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
  5. Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for pets to be kept clear during the visit
  • Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property

How to get a quote

Photos are the fastest route to a quote: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Add the address and what you’d like done, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.
