About air conditioning repair in Oxfordshire

Not sure whether it’s worth calling an engineer? A quick check of the filter, settings and remote can rule out the simple causes, then call 07833 053749 or use the quote form if the problem is still there. We reply to enquiries the same working day. Typical jobs include a suspected refrigerant leak and an error code or flashing light on the unit, across multi-split systems, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems.

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes an hour or two to diagnose most faults, with the repair time depending on what we find.

  1. Diagnosis comes first: codes, electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant.
  2. Next, a plain explanation and a fixed price.
  3. Where a repair doesn’t make sense, you’ll hear it from us, with the alternatives.
  4. Treat: carry out the repair, sealing any leak before refrigerant goes back in.
  5. Sign off: prove it works and record the visit.

What you will pay

No two properties are the same, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.

The quickest way to a quote is to send photos: the inside and outside of the property where the work is, plus the rating plate of any unit already there. Tell us the address and what you need, and simple jobs can often be priced without a visit.

Where we repair in Oxfordshire

Most faults we see across Oxfordshire come down to filters, drains, leaks, fans or sensors, on most makes.

Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval, in Oxfordshire as everywhere else.

Oxford: A photo of the error code and the unit’s rating label helps us plan the repair. If a system fails at a school such as East Oxford Primary School, our 24/7 line takes the call, and planned repairs can wait for the holidays.

Honest limits

Air conditioning repair cannot fix everything, and we will tell you before we start. It won’t put right:

  • Cooling that falls short because the system is too small
  • A room that overheats because of the building, such as a lack of shading or ventilation (the system may need help, not a repair)
  • A unit whose parts are no longer made (replacement may be the only option)

Signs you need air conditioning repair

Leaks tend to start where pipes are joined: joints, valves and sections of pipe worn by vibration or damage. Coils can corrode and leak too and many leaks are slow enough to go unnoticed for a while.

Common reasons people call us are:

  • A system that will not switch on
  • Rattling, buzzing or grinding noises
  • A unit blowing warm air
  • A unit that has lost refrigerant

What affects the quote in Oxfordshire

Jobs vary more than people expect. The main factors:

  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units
  • What electrical work the job needs
  • A single visit or a regular plan
  • Whether it’s a simple split or a larger system

Homes, offices, shops and public buildings are all priced the same way: the equipment, the access, the work involved and the time it takes. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we will explain each part.

Asking for a quote

Good pictures often save a visit. The most useful are:

  • The outdoor side of the property, including any roof or flat area
  • The make and model of the system, from the label
  • Photos showing the indoor unit and the space around it
  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we have looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, ring 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

Rented and managed buildings

Records are where property maintenance often slips. Each visit produces a dated record, with F-Gas records wherever refrigerant work is involved, so you can show what was done and when.

Larger air conditioning systems in buildings need more than servicing: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.

Oxfordshire: your questions answered

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is the law, not just our preference, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

What accreditations do you have?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we are an F-Gas certified company. NICEIC approval, MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership sit alongside it.

How much is an air conditioning call-out?

A diagnosis call-out is from £75 + VAT. When we’ve found the fault, the repair is priced before we do it. The cost depends on the fault, the parts and access to the units.

Why is not my air con cooling?

There are several possible causes, from simple to serious. We read any fault code and test the system to find which, then give you a fixed price to fix it.

Is it legal to repair an R410A system?

Yes. Any leak is repaired before recharging, and the work is recorded and we’ll give you an honest view on whether it’s worth it.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we’ll suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. Every job is looked at first, either on a site survey or from photos and details for simple jobs. A fixed-price quote follows.
