Air conditioning repair in Buckinghamshire: how it works
Age alone does not decide whether a repair is worth it. A system with a failed fan motor may be well worth repairing, while one with a failed compressor might not be. You get an honest view based on the fault, the parts, the refrigerant and the room. We are often asked to deal with ice forming on the indoor unit or pipes and a unit that barely blows any air, across heat pumps, VRF systems and ducted systems.
Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first, so you can plan around it. For businesses, we can typically work room by room or zone by zone. On site, it takes anything from an hour or so to a full day, depending on the fault and the parts.
- Diagnosis comes first: codes, electrics, airflow, drain and refrigerant.
- Prescribe: tell you the cause and the fixed cost of the cure.
- Where a repair does not make sense, you’ll hear it from us, with the alternatives.
- Then the fix, with leaks repaired before any refrigerant is added.
- Sign off: prove it works and record the visit.
How we quote
Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Ask for a fixed-price quote and we’ll explain each part.

Getting a price
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we’ve looked at the job, from pictures or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, ring us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form.

Air conditioning repair across Buckinghamshire: local notes
Most faults we see across Buckinghamshire come down to filters, drains, leaks, fans or sensors.

Aylesbury: If your system near Aylesbury station stops in a hot spell, our 24/7 line is open. For a school like Buckinghamshire UTC, urgent repairs can be booked right away and bigger work in the holidays.
System by system
Circuit boards and sensors
Boards and sensors are the system’s nervous system. Sensor faults can stop the system or confuse it, and boards can fail after a power surge or with age.
Ducted and cassette systems
Water through a ceiling below a cassette or ducted unit needs prompt attention. A failed pump, a blocked drain or an overflowing tray is normally behind it and the diagnosis covers each of them.
What owners can safely do
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
When it’s something else
To be straight with you, some problems need a different answer:
- An R22 system that has lost its refrigerant
- A system that was undersized for the room in the first place (that needs a bigger system, not a repair)
- A room that overheats because of the building, such as a lack of shading or ventilation (the system may need help, not a repair)
Keeping the system healthy
So the system stays in good health:
- Never add refrigerant yourself or let anyone top up without finding the leak
- Have the system serviced once a year
- Turn the system off if it’s dripping water
- Rule out the simple causes first: filter, mode and temperature
Where a repair isn’t worth doing, we say so, and explain why. If replacement is the better option, we can quote for it on the same visit.
Small changes are worth acting on. A drip, a new noise, a weaker airflow or an occasional error code is often the first sign of a fault, and early diagnosis typically means a smaller repair.
Common questions in Buckinghamshire
How long does the visit take?
We will confirm the time with your quote. As a guide, the work takes as long as the fault needs, from a quick fix to a return visit for parts.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Send details of the systems and how they’re used and we will propose a schedule and quote for it. Leak checks required by the F-gas rules can be built in for larger systems.
Do you provide F-Gas records?
Yes. Every visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. That is not optional: it’s required by law, and we hold it.
Why is my air conditioning showing a fault code?
Each manufacturer uses its own codes, and one code can have more than one cause. Send us a photo of the display with the make and model and we will test the system to confirm the cause.
Is it legal to repair an R410A system?
Yes. We find and fix the leak, then recharge with R410A and record it in the F-Gas records, and we tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it on an older system.
Is there a survey before the work?
Yes. We always look before we price, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
