Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey, with the design explained in the quote.
Leave it or put it right?
Where the outdoor unit goes matters to you and to the neighbours. A good position keeps noise down and leaves room for servicing, and it can affect whether planning permission is needed. It’s agreed on the survey, not on the day.

Before you call an engineer
Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo of the display helps even more.
Don’t move, re-route or disconnect units or pipework yourself. Moving a unit involves the refrigerant circuit, so it needs an F-Gas qualified engineer, and the electrical side needs a competent person. If you need something moved, we can quote for it.

Can I do any of the installation myself?
No, not the refrigerant side. Under the F-gas rules, it must be done by qualified engineers from a certified company, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.

We’re an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re also Checkatrade members.
