Our air conditioning service in UB10

A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Under Part P, a new circuit is notifiable unless a registered competent person does it, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. Typical jobs include bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer and portable units that are noisy and barely cope, on multi-split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ceiling cassettes.

There’s very little for you to do on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

How we quote

No two properties are the same, so each one gets its own fixed-price quote. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all play a part.

Where we install in UB10

Planning rules are the same across England, UB10 included: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.

UB10 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote.

Hillingdon: Around Church of St John, a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. With historic houses such as Ickenham Hall about 1.8 miles north, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.

Aftercare tips

Here’s the after-treatment advice, short and simple:

  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
  • Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter
  • Keep the handover documents somewhere safe

We clear up before we go: sheets removed, packaging cleared up and pipe holes sealed. Pipework outside is covered in trunking or insulated and neatly fixed, so the job looks as tidy as it works.

Report drips, noises or error codes early. Water from the indoor unit, a new rattle or a code on the display usually means something needs attention, and early repairs are usually simpler.

When it’s something else

In fairness, some problems need a different answer:

  • Draughts and missing insulation
  • Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
  • A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)

Landlords, agents and facilities managers

Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across Greater London. Work can be phased by floor, zone or building to keep disruption down.

We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork, and we’ll keep everyone informed.

Why deal with it now?

The outdoor unit’s position is worth getting right first time. A good position keeps noise down and leaves room for servicing, and it can make a difference to planning. We agree it with you on the survey.

What your quote should include

  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long
  • Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
  • Whether extra work needs your approval first
  • What paperwork you will receive afterwards

FAQs for UB10

What does it cost to install air conditioning?

It depends on the rooms, the system and the pipe route, but a single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Long pipe runs, difficult access, a new circuit and premium indoor units push the price up, while commercial systems are priced after a survey.

How soon will you get back to me?

On the same working day you contact us. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we will tell you what to do first.

Who has to arrange F-Gas leak checks?

The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

What does F-Gas certified mean?

Companies working on equipment that contains F gas must be certified by an approved body, and each engineer needs the right qualifications too. It’s how you know the refrigerant is being handled legally and safely.

What warranty do I get?

Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.

Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?

Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
