Air conditioning in UB4

Our engineers cover all of the UB4 postcode district, which takes in Hayes, Yeading and Yiewsley. You get a fixed-price quote before any work starts.

Air conditioning across UB4: what to expect

A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, two rooms on a multi-split £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation are all included, with commercial and VRF systems priced after a survey. We are often asked to deal with commercial rooms that are too warm for staff and uncertainty over the right type and size of system, on multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes.

Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. The visit takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

How we quote

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Faults and wear in a system tend to grow, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you are not sure what’s needed, call us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form for straight advice and a fixed price.

Ask for a quote

Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from pictures and measurements. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.

Air conditioning around UB4

In UB4, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

Across London and the South East, we reply to enquiries the same working day, and our emergency line is open 24/7.

Hayes: If you work from home near Hayes & Harlington station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. About 3 miles north-east stands Northolt Manor. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Keep a note of anything odd: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo of the display helps even more.

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.

What we are called out for in UB4

Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A home office with a couple of screens, or a meeting room with a few people in it, warms up quickly, even when it is not especially hot outside.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm
  • Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
  • A business premises that overheats in summer

Different systems, different jobs

Outdoor unit positions

Outdoor units are fitted on wall brackets, at ground level or on a flat roof, whatever suits the building and the route. It needs space around it to breathe and for an engineer to work on it.

Ceiling cassettes

A cassette sits flush in a suspended ceiling and spreads air in several directions, which suits offices, shops and open-plan spaces.

What affects the quote in UB4

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • How far the pipework has to run, and where
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders
  • How many units are involved

One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: the work involved, the access and the equipment. The price is fixed before we start, with VAT shown clearly.

Asking for a quote

You do not need the technical terms. Just send:

  • The address and the type of property
  • Wide photos of the room or the existing unit
  • Your installation or service records
  • The make and model of the system, from the label

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

UB4 questions

Why does F-Gas certification matter?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. Ask to see proof before booking anyone, and we are happy to show ours.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes, day and night. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we will talk you through the next steps.

What warranty do I get?

It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. Daikin, for example, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.

Is there a survey before the work?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.

Is planning permission needed for the outdoor unit?

Not necessarily. Permitted development can cover a heat pump on a house, including an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools since 2025, provided the conditions are met. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Where will you put the outdoor unit?

We agree it with you on the survey. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.

How quickly will you reply?

You will hear from us the same working day. For a breakdown that cannot wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.
