Air conditioning in HA2: how it works
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just call 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and we will reply the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. Typical jobs include portable units that are noisy and barely cope and bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer, on ceiling cassettes, ducted systems and air-to-air heat pumps.
The work area is kept tidy throughout, with dust sheets down and offcuts and packaging cleared up. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. On site, it takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.
What affects the price in HA2
The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why every job is looked at first, and the price is agreed before any work starts.

The nearest railway station is Harrow-on-the-Hill station, roughly 0.7 miles north-east of the centre. Air conditioning across HA2
In HA2, as across England, the same permitted development rules apply: cooling-only units aren’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. We’re F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Harrow: About 1.4 miles north stands Headstone Manor. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Plenty of people near Harrow-on-the-Hill station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.
Why act early?
If you’re thinking about air conditioning for a property in HA2, there’s no need to wait for a heatwave. Installation takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer, and we agree a date that suits you once you’re happy with the quote.

Keeping the system healthy
Systems last better with the right care. Here’s what we suggest:
- File the paperwork with the manual
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
- Avoid setting it far colder than you need
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
Before we leave, the system is commissioned and tested in each mode. Once it’s running properly, we take you through the controls and settings, so you’re confident using it.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, so it uses less electricity for the same comfort.
System by system
Multi-split systems
Indoor units on a multi-split don’t all have to look the same: a wall unit in one room, a ducted or floor unit in another, depending on the model. The survey settles which units go where.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Commercial rooms often need more than one unit and controls that suit how the space is used. Sizing takes account of occupants, equipment and windows, and plan the work so the business keeps running.
When something else is needed
Not every problem is solved by air conditioning, and we’d rather say so up front. It doesn’t solve:
- Draughts and missing insulation
- Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
- Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council
HA2 questions
How do you size the system?
We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. An undersized unit never catches up, and an oversized one cycles and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. For anything urgent, such as a system failing in a server room or water leaking from a unit, ring our 24/7 line and we will agree what happens next.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
Most single-room systems take a day. Multi-split, ducted and cassette systems take longer, and we tell you how long on the quote.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
Protection goes down first: sheets over the floor and nearby furniture. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts when we finish.
