How air conditioning works in HA7
Air conditioning isn’t only for summer: most modern splits heat too. The Energy Saving Trust makes the same point: an air-to-air heat pump is what many people simply call air conditioning, and a well-chosen system can earn its keep all year round. Common call-outs are for a loft conversion that’s too warm to use and too many options and no clear advice, across VRF systems, multi-split systems and wall-mounted split systems.
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and check the plan with you first. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
- Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- We commission the system, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty details.
How we quote
Our prices page shows typical ranges, but your price depends on the job in front of us. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we will talk you through it.

How to get a quote
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, from a site survey or, where the job is straightforward, from photos and measurements. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.
Near you in Stanmore
We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around Avanti House School, Sahara Lounge pub and Whitchurch Primary School & Nursery, among other places. Also close by are Canons Park (0.7 miles east), Whitchurch Junior School (within half a mile south) and Church of St John (0.6 miles north-west). For rail, the closest station is Harrow & Wealdstone station, about 1.9 miles south-west of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Hilfield Castle (3.2 miles north-west) and Cat Museum (1.7 miles south-west). Open spaces near Stanmore include Darland's Lake and Stanmore Country Park.
Air conditioning across HA7: local notes
Across HA7, from Stanmore, Bushey and Edgware to the villages, homes range from older terraces and cottages to new estates and flats. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
We are based in East Grinstead and work across London and the South East, HA7 included. Every job starts with a site survey or pictures, then a fixed-price quote.
Stanmore: Older streets near Church of St John may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. Headstone Manor (roughly 2.5 miles south-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
What happens if it’s left?
Size matters more than brand. Too small, and it runs flat out without catching up; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy. Getting the sizing right at the survey stage avoids both problems.
Comparing quotes
- How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
- Whether anyone has checked the property or the system first
- Whether the manufacturer’s warranty depends on regular servicing
System by system
Wall-mounted split systems
Bedrooms, offices and living spaces are where wall-mounted units are most often fitted. We choose the position for even airflow and easy filter access, and away from where the air would blow straight onto people.
Electrical supply
The fuse board is looked at during the survey, so the quote covers any electrical work needed. Older boards sometimes need more work to take a new circuit and we will tell you if yours does.
For landlords and property managers
Bigger systems bring extra duties: a TM44 inspection by an accredited energy assessor is required at least every 5 years for systems over 12 kW. We can arrange it, prepare the system for it and fix what it finds.
Whether it’s one property or many, you get the same standard: diagnosis, a fixed price, access agreed with the people on site and paperwork at the end.
Honest limits
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- Central heating repairs
Your questions about air conditioning in HA7
How long will the installation take?
Allow a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. We confirm the time when we quote, so you can plan around it.
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s a legal requirement, and it also matters for the manufacturer’s warranty. We are happy to quote for the full job, supply to commissioning.
Can I have air conditioning in a flat?
It depends on the building and the lease. An outdoor unit can sometimes go on a balcony, roof or rear wall, with consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
How does the warranty work?
Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Terms differ by brand, and we set them out on your quote.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. For simple jobs, pictures and a few details can be enough, while larger systems and faults that need testing are seen on site.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
