Our air conditioning service in WD23
Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, with VRF for larger buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be, and we explain the options on the survey. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ceiling cassettes, and common reasons people get in touch are a system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement and rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in.
Everything the job needs comes with us, from tools and test equipment to ladders and dust sheets. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. On site, the work takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- We connect the supply, pressure test the pipework and evacuate it before the refrigerant is released.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.
What you’ll pay
A single unit or a whole estate, the quote is built the same way: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. You will have a fixed price before work begins, and the quote sets out the VAT.
What you get with us

Around Bushey
Around Bushey, our work takes us to homes and businesses near Oxhey Park, Horse And Chains Public House and Little Reddings Primary School and the streets around them. Nearby too are St. Hilda's School (under half a mile south-west), Congregational Church (within half a mile west) and Bushey Meads School (under half a mile north-east). For rail, the closest station is Bushey station, roughly 1.3 miles west of the centre. Other landmarks nearby include Bentley Priory Museum (1.3 miles south-east) and Harlequin Centre (1.8 miles north-west). Not far away are Stanmore Common.
Air conditioning across WD23
Planning rules are the same across England, WD23 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
WD23 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. One phone number covers all of it.
Bushey: If your home is in one of the older streets near Congregational Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install. Headstone Manor (roughly 3.5 miles south) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
Aftercare tips
Looking after the system is mostly common sense. Our tips:
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
- Keep the handover documents somewhere safe
- Book an annual service
We show you how to take the filters out and clean them. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, following the manual, and keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves and clutter.
Keep the outdoor unit clear. Leaves, plants, bins and stored items around it restrict the airflow, and the system has to work harder as a result.
Why deal with it now?
The outdoor unit’s position is worth getting right first time. Placing it well keeps noise away from bedrooms and boundaries and makes servicing easier, and it can make a difference to planning. We agree it with you on the survey.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
Owners can handle the everyday basics: keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, plants and clutter, check the settings and the remote, and follow the cleaning the manual describes. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.
What air conditioning can’t fix
We won’t sell you work that does not address the problem, so here are the limits:
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
WD23: your questions answered
Do you work in WD23?
Yes. Our area takes in London and the counties of the South East, WD23 included.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.
Where will you put the outdoor unit?
It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, chosen for the pipe route, airflow and access. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours, and the position can affect planning.
Can I do the refrigerant work myself?
Not the refrigerant work. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new circuit is notifiable under Part P unless a registered electrician, such as a NICEIC approved contractor, does it.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
It depends on the rooms, the system and the pipe route, but a single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Where you sit in the range depends on pipe length, access, electrics and the model, while commercial systems are priced after a survey.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.
