Air conditioning across HA6: what to expect
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, while a two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT. Supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation are all included, with commercial and VRF systems priced after a survey. The work covers ceiling cassettes, air-to-air heat pumps and wall-mounted split systems, and the jobs we see most are a room that’s unbearable on warm days and a loft conversion that’s too warm to use.
Each visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, protect the area, do the work, check the system and explain it all to you. On site, the work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- You send photos, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
Pricing in HA6
Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units all affect the cost. We take each of them into account, and the price is fixed before we start.

Air conditioning across HA6: local notes
Planning rules are the same across England, HA6 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
HA6 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote.
Eastbury: Headstone Manor, about 3.2 miles south-east, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. If your home is in one of the older streets near Emmanuel Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.
Honest limits
To be straight with you, there are a few things this work will not fix:
- Building damp that has a structural cause
- A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
Looking after it afterwards
Systems last better with the right care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Never run the system with the filters out
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
Commissioning is the last stage: every mode is tested before we go. We check it’s running as the manufacturer intends, then show you the controls and the timer so you know how to get the best from it.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, which costs you more to run.
Safe owner checks
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and phone us on 07833 053749.
Never try to top up, release or handle refrigerant yourself. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and refrigerant lines can cause cold burns. A suspected leak is our job, not yours.
For landlords and property managers
When the building owner and the occupier are different, the lease or tenancy agreement normally sets out who maintains what. We are happy to deal with either side and send the records to whoever needs them.
If you look after several properties, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.
FAQs for HA6
Do you protect the property while you work?
Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets before any work starts, and we tidy up as we go. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
In most cases. We check your consumer unit on the survey and include any electrical work on the quote and we install and certify the circuit as NICEIC approved contractors.
Do you survey before quoting?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, either on a site survey or from pictures and details for simple jobs. A fixed-price quote follows.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
Which brands do you work with?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and tell you why.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, any time. If something urgent happens, like water coming from a unit or a critical room overheating, call our 24/7 line and we’ll tell you what to do first.
Do I need planning permission?
Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it usually comes up, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
