About air conditioning in HP16
Thinking about air conditioning but not sure where to start? Just call us on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. Common call-outs are for a system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement and rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night, on air-to-air heat pumps, ducted systems and VRF systems.
Every visit follows the same order: check the plan with you, protect the area, do the work, check the system and explain it all to you. The visit itself takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- The units go up and the pipework, cable and condensate drain are run neatly between them.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
How we quote
One room or a whole building, we price it on the same basis: what needs doing, how we get to it and what it needs. The price is fixed before work begins, with VAT shown clearly.

Getting a quote
To help us quote: where the property is and what kind of building it is, pictures of the rooms or units, the brand and model of anything already fitted and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, phone 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Air conditioning across HP16: local notes
Planning rules are the same across England, HP16 included: cooling-only units are not covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.
Message us from anywhere in HP16 and you’ll hear back the same working day. For a breakdown, use the 24/7 line.
Prestwood: With historic houses such as Hughenden Manor about 3.4 miles south, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. Homes near Holy Trinity Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.
Looking after it afterwards
Looking after it is simple, and it makes the next visit easier:
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
You get the paperwork that matters: the commissioning details, the F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information. File them together as they’re needed for servicing and any warranty question.
Do not ignore small changes. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault, and early repairs are typically simpler.
Honest limits
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
- An installation that needs consent nobody has given yet
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
What we’re called out for in HP16
Commercial spaces gain heat from people, equipment, lighting and glazing. Comfortable staff and customers are the usual reason businesses get in touch, along with keeping equipment rooms at a steady temperature.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- Rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night
- Working from home in a room that gets too warm
- An office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers
- Too many options and no clear advice
Different systems, different jobs
Ducted systems
Ducted units can feed several rooms through a network of ducts, which suits new builds, extensions and refurbishments where ceilings are open.
Wall-mounted split systems
A single-room split is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. Where you sit in that range depends on the pipe run, access and electrics.
Common questions in HP16
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes. Each visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. File them with the system’s paperwork.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. The price is fixed before any work starts.
Do you cover HP16?
Yes. Our engineers work in HP16, as part of our area across London and the South East. We’re based in East Grinstead, West Sussex.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
Will I need planning permission?
That depends on what’s being fitted and where. In England, an air source heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, so check with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
It depends on the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so it’s worth checking. Keep every service record either way.
Can the outdoor unit go on a roof or at ground level?
It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours and position can affect planning.
