Our air conditioning service in HP23
Most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust recognises that air-to-air heat pumps often go by the name air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. The work covers wall-mounted split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and ceiling cassettes, and the jobs we see most are bedrooms and offices that overheat in summer and a business premises that overheats in summer.
Our engineers bring the tools, gauges and access equipment the job needs. You only need to give us clear access to the units, or their planned positions, and to the fuse board. On site, the work takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.

How to get a quote
Every quote shows the VAT clearly, with the rate that applies to your job. VAT can differ between homes and businesses and between kinds of work, so we confirm it in writing rather than guess. To get one, call 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Air conditioning across HP23
Our air conditioning work across HP23 takes in places such as Tring, Wigginton and Wilstone and the smaller places around them. Every place on our HP23 list (20 in all) is covered.
London and the South East cover everything from city flats to rural cottages. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Tring: Around Church of St Peter St Paul (church of England), a quick check of the listing and conservation maps is part of planning any install. With historic houses such as Cholesbury Manor House about 2.9 miles south, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.
Before you call an engineer
On air conditioning, the filters in the indoor unit are usually the one part owners can clean, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.
When something else is needed
Some problems need a different service or another trade:
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
- Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
- Damp from leaks or a lack of ventilation
Aftercare tips
Systems last better with the right care. We suggest:
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest
- Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
- Keep the F-Gas records, commissioning details and warranty information together
You get the paperwork that matters: F-Gas records, commissioning details and the manufacturer’s warranty terms. File them together as they’re needed for servicing and any warranty question.
Do not ignore small changes. A drip, a noise or a flashing light is often an early sign of a fault and catching it early keeps the repair small.
Different systems, different jobs
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
For bigger buildings, VRF systems link many indoor units to shared outdoor plant. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.
Outdoor unit positions
Noise is part of the decision: keeping it clear of bedrooms and boundaries where we can and fitted so vibration does not carry into the building. It can also affect whether planning permission is needed.
Questions from HP23
Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?
In most cases, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they can heat a room in winter. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.
Do I get paperwork after the visit?
Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.
Why use an F-Gas certified company?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. That isn’t optional: it’s required by law, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
What does it cost to install air conditioning?
For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. You get a fixed price before any work starts.
Will you need to do electrical work?
Most systems need their own supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and as NICEIC approved contractors we install and certify it as part of the job.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes. There’s a 24/7 emergency line for breakdowns that cannot wait. Call 07833 053749 and tell us what’s happened.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
