How air conditioning works in HP22

We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be and we talk you through it on the survey. We are often asked to deal with a portable unit with a hose out of the window and rooms heated by plug-in heaters, across multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes.

Anything involving refrigerant is handled by F-Gas qualified engineers, as the law requires, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. The treatment: units fitted, pipework and drain routed, and the electrics installed.
  4. Checks: a pressure test for leaks, then a vacuum to clear moisture.
  5. The sign-off: commissioning, a walk through the controls, and the F-Gas records and warranty details.

Air conditioning across HP22: local notes

Planning rules are the same across England, HP22 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.

Message us from anywhere in HP22 and you will hear back the same working day. Breakdowns can go to the 24/7 line instead.

Wendover: Cholesbury Manor House, about 3.9 miles east, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. Homes near Parish Church of St Mary are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

Managing agents and facilities teams in HP22

We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork, and we will keep everyone informed.

Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too in HP22 and across Buckinghamshire. Larger buildings can be done in stages to keep disruption down.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in HP22

Typical ranges are on our prices page, and your quote is built on your job. The quote depends on:

  • The equipment or parts the job needs
  • The condition of any existing system
  • The type of system, from a single split to a larger system
  • The size of the job

Typical ranges are on our prices page, but each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a fixed-price quote, and we’ll explain what it covers.

Helping us quote

Good photos often save a visit. The most useful are:

  • The rating plate or label on any existing unit
  • The paperwork from the last service, if you have it
  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it

Quotes don’t take long. Call or email with a few details and we will come back to you the same working day. If we need to see the property first, we book a survey at a time that works for you.

When it’s something else

Air conditioning cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t put right:

  • Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
  • A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
  • Work that needs permission from a landlord or the council

Owner checks or an engineer?

Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.

Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. The law requires anyone working on equipment containing F gas to hold the right qualifications, and the company to be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.

Common questions in HP22

Can landlords and managing agents book you?

Yes. From one rented home to commercial buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.

Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?

It depends on the building and the lease. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent, and we check the options on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

How do you size the system?

It depends on the room, not only its floor area. Glazing, orientation, the roof and what goes on in the room all affect it and the survey covers each of them.

Do you provide F-Gas records?

Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: a dated note of the work, with refrigerant details where they apply.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.

Which accreditations do you hold?

We hold F-Gas company certification, which the law requires for any business working on refrigerant. We are also NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and Checkatrade members.
