Air conditioning in HP20: how it works
Any installation we do in HP20 follows the same process as everywhere else we work: a site survey, or photos for simple jobs, then a fixed-price quote, the installation, commissioning and F-Gas records. You know the price before work begins and the paperwork is in your hands when we finish. We are often asked to deal with rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night and uncertainty over the right type and size of system, across ceiling cassettes, multi-split systems and ducted systems.
Where something has to be switched off during the work, we agree it with you first, so you can plan around it. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
- We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
- We run and connect the pipes, cable and drain, then pressure test and evacuate the circuit.
- We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

Where we install in HP20
Our air conditioning work across HP20 takes in places such as Aylesbury, Elmhurst and Southcourt and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for HP20, 12 in all.
From London flats to coastal homes and country cottages, London and the South East have every kind of property. Our work is F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved for the electrics and MCS certified for heat pumps.
Elmhurst: If you work from home near Aylesbury station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Homes near Church of St Mary are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.
What air conditioning cannot fix
In fairness, some problems need a different answer:
- A ventilation problem rather than a temperature problem
- Heat loss through very poor insulation (a system will heat the room, but insulation is a separate job)
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
When the building owner and the occupier are different, it’s worth checking the agreement for who looks after the system. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.
For anyone managing more than one building, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.
Keeping the system healthy
So the system stays in good health:
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
- Shut doors and windows when it’s on
- Keep to the service interval the manufacturer recommends
We recommend an annual service, and some manufacturers make regular servicing a condition of their warranty. We’ll remind you when it’s due if you’d like.
Regular filter cleaning is the simplest thing you can do. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, which costs you more to run.
Why it fails
Everything that uses electricity in a room ends up as heat. A home office with a couple of screens, or a meeting room with a few people in it, warms up quickly, even when it isn’t especially hot outside.
Reasons to give us a call include:
- A portable unit with a hose out of the window
- A business premises that overheats in summer
- A loft conversion that’s too warm to use
- Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
Your questions about air conditioning in HP20
Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?
The refrigerant side has to be done by a qualified engineer working for an F-Gas certified company. That is a legal requirement, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including any issues with how it was fitted. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used, and we will suggest a schedule with a fixed price. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
How soon will you get back to me?
On the same working day you contact us. After that, we agree a survey, diagnosis or installation date that suits you, and you get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Do I need a new electrical circuit?
Usually, yes. We check your consumer unit on the survey and include any electrical work on the quote, and our NICEIC approval covers the installation and certificate.
What warranty do I get?
It’s the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand. Daikin, for instance, gives a standard 2 years on split air conditioning, and we explain the terms for whichever brand you choose.
Do I need planning permission?
Sometimes. Heat pumps and cooling-only units are treated differently, and so are flats, listed buildings and conservation areas. We flag anything that may need permission when we survey and the council makes the decision. This is general information, not legal advice.
