Air conditioning in HP18

Our air conditioning service in HP18

Across HP18, every installation follows the same steps: survey, fixed-price quote, a neat installation, full commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork. The price is fixed up front and the records are handed over at the end. The work covers air-to-air heat pumps, ducted systems and wall-mounted split systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and a room that’s unbearable on warm days.

Each visit runs to the same pattern: check the plan with you, put the dust sheets down, carry out the job, check the system and explain it all to you. The visit itself takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. We survey the property, or work from your photos for a simple job.
  2. The system is sized, positions are agreed and the price is fixed.
  3. We protect the area, then fit both halves of the system.
  4. Pipework, cable and drain are run, the circuit is connected and the pipework is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.

What affects the price in HP18

One room or a whole building, the quote is built the same way: the work involved, the access and the equipment. The price is fixed before work begins, and the quote sets out the VAT.

Why book with us

How to get a quote

Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we’ve looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or email us.

Long Crendon: Homes near Church of St Mary are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed.

What we are called out for in HP18

Commercial spaces gain heat from people, equipment, lighting and glazing. Comfortable staff and customers are the usual reason businesses get in touch, and some rooms need cooling for the equipment as much as the people.

It’s time to call us if you are dealing with:

  • A business premises that overheats in summer
  • A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
  • Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
  • Expensive direct electric heating

What air conditioning can’t fix

We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so these are the things it will not cover:

  • Problems with a gas boiler or the radiators
  • Building damp that has a structural cause
  • A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)

Why act early?

Planning ahead beats a rushed decision in a heatwave. When people buy in a hurry, the unit is often the wrong size or badly placed, which is costly to undo. Booking the survey early gives you time to weigh up the options.

Comparing quotes

  • Whether the quote is a fixed price
  • What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long
  • Proof of F-Gas company certification

For landlords and property managers

Running several properties is easier with one contractor. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept on a regular cycle.

For anyone managing more than one building, we can plan visits across the portfolio and price them together. Each property gets its own records, so the files stay tidy.

HP18 questions

How much does air conditioning installation cost?

Typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT for a single-room split, depending on the room, the access and the pipe route. Where you sit in the range depends on pipe length, access, electrics and the model, while commercial systems are priced after a survey.

Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?

Responsibility is shared between the operator, normally whoever owns or controls the equipment, and the service technicians. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, set at the interval the system and the manufacturer’s terms need. Every visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.

Can I do any of the installation myself?

No, not the refrigerant side. The F-gas rules require certified companies and qualified engineers for it, and a new electrical circuit is notifiable building work unless a registered competent person does it.

Which type of air conditioning is best?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.

Is the equipment covered by a warranty?

Warranty is the manufacturer’s own, on its terms. Each brand sets its own conditions and periods, so we explain them on your quote.

Do I need planning permission?

Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it normally comes up, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
