Air conditioning in Ludgershall
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you will hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, in Ludgershall it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.
Planning permission isn’t normally needed for a house if the unit qualifies as permitted development, but listed buildings, conservation areas and flats often need consent first: we tell you at the survey if it applies.
Around Ludgershall, many people choose a system that heats as well as cools, which suits garden rooms, lofts and extensions that the main heating struggles with.
We’re an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work, with MCS certification for heat pumps and Checkatrade membership. Refrigerant work is done by engineers who hold the F-gas qualifications the law requires.

Air conditioning in Ludgershall: the local picture
Census 2021 figures found about 85% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A side passage or back wall normally gives the outdoor unit a home, and more than one bedroom can be cooled through a multi-split.
With historic houses such as Boarstall Tower about 3.1 miles south-west, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules. Homes near Church of St Mary are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.
Ludgershall is about 6 miles south-east of Bicester, in Buckinghamshire. We cover Ludgershall for air conditioning, along with the rest of Buckinghamshire. 263 places in Buckinghamshire are on our list, from busy centres to quieter spots. The nearest of our city pages is Guildford, around 46 miles from Ludgershall.
High Street, Salters Lane and Bicester Road and the roads off them are all inside our area. Our working area takes in HP18, every street of it. Close by, we work in Piddington (1 mile west), Brill (2 miles south), Grendon Underwood (2 miles north-east), Blackthorn (3 miles north-west) and Edgcott (3 miles north). We also work in nearby towns such as Aylesbury (10 miles east), Buckingham (10 miles north), Elmhurst (10 miles east) and Southcourt (10 miles east).

Keeping the system healthy
A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Book an annual service
We clear up before we go: dust sheets lifted, offcuts and packaging cleared, and the holes for the pipework sealed. Outside, the pipework is neatly fixed and protected, so the job looks as tidy as it works.
Use sensible settings. Choose the right mode and a comfortable temperature rather than the lowest setting, and close windows and doors while it’s cooling.
Ludgershall: your questions answered
Do you cover smaller places like Ludgershall?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Can I fit air conditioning in Ludgershall without planning permission?
There’s no single answer: the building and the outdoor unit position decide it. Central Ludgershall is a short walk from the Ludgershall Conservation Area. Permitted development only covers heat pumps that aren’t used solely for cooling, and not within the grounds of a listed building. Conservation areas add limits on outdoor units facing a road. Where necessary, we check with the local planning authority (for Ludgershall, normally Buckinghamshire council).
Which accreditations do you hold?
AirCon Doctor is an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We are members of Checkatrade too.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We start with a proper look and tell you honestly what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
A single-room split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. A two-room multi-split is typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, including supply, installation, commissioning and F-Gas documentation. The price is fixed before work begins.
Why does F-Gas certification matter?
F-Gas certification shows a company is approved to work on equipment containing fluorinated gases, such as the refrigerant in air conditioning and heat pumps. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and AirCon Doctor is certified.
Do you have a 24/7 line?
Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for breakdowns that can’t wait. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.
What the work involves, system by system
Pipework and condensate drains
Cooling produces water as the air is dried, and the condensate drain carries it away. If gravity won’t do it, a condensate pump is fitted, and we plan that on the survey.
Ceiling cassettes
For wide rooms, a cassette spreads the air more evenly than one wall unit with just a grille visible in the ceiling.
The process
Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs attention later is pointed out. All told, the work takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. We plan the trip to Ludgershall around you.
- You send photos, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
- Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- The system is commissioned, the controls explained and the F-Gas records handed over.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work
- Clear access to the fuse board
- Clear a path to the units and the space around them
Getting a price
To help us quote: the address and the type of property, photos of the rooms or units, the make and model of any existing system and anything you’ve noticed, such as an error code or a noise. Once you have those, call 07833 053749 or send an email.

How we price air conditioning
The price is fixed before any work begins. It takes into account:
- Which make and model is being fitted or worked on
- The number of rooms, units or zones
- How easy the units are to reach
The pipe route, the height of the units and how we reach them can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote and give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Asking for a quote
There’s no need for technical detail. Just send:
- A few photos of the room and the wall the unit is on, or will go on
- The make and model of the system, from the label
- The address and the type of property
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your pictures and details. Then you get a fixed price so you know the cost before we begin.
