About air conditioning in HP6

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, with VRF for larger buildings. The right choice depends on the rooms, the building and how visible you want the indoor units to be, and we explain the options on the survey. The work covers ceiling cassettes, VRF systems and ducted systems, and common reasons people get in touch are a business premises that overheats in summer and a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer.

You don’t need to do much on the day. Just let us in and point us to the units, or to where they’ll be fitted, and the rest is down to us. At the end, we tidy up and run through the work with you.

  1. We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
  2. Cooling loads are worked out room by room, and the written price names the make, the model and every position.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.

Where we install in HP6

From Amersham, Little Chalfont and Amersham on the Hill outwards, HP6 has every kind of home. We survey every property before we quote.

HP6 is part of a working area that runs from Greater London to the Sussex coast and out to Oxfordshire and Essex. You reach the same people wherever you are in it.

Amersham: Homes near St. Michael and All Angels are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it. Plenty of people near Amersham station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit.

What you can do yourself, and what needs us

Write down what you notice: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

There are a few things you can safely do yourself: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Opening up the units, the electrics and the refrigerant circuit are a job for us.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in HP6

You will get a fixed price before any work starts. It’s based on:

  • The brand, model and parts involved
  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • The distance and route between the indoor and outdoor units

What you pay reflects the actual work. That’s why we look at the job first, from photos or on a survey, and the price is agreed before we start.

Before you get in touch

Simple jobs can often be priced from photos and some basics. Send what you can of the following:

  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • The outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits or would go
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • The rating plate or label on any existing unit

To help us quote: the address and the type of property, photos of the rooms or units, the brand and model of anything already fitted and any symptoms, from error codes to drips. Once you have those, call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Leave it or put it right?

For a home or business in HP6, booking the survey now gives time to plan. Installation takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems, and we agree a date that suits you after you’ve accepted the fixed price.

What your quote should include

  • What’s in the price and what isn’t
  • Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
  • Whether extra work needs your approval first
  • Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it

Looking after your system

Systems last better with the right care. We suggest:

  • Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
  • Refit filters properly after cleaning
  • Book an annual service
  • Keep the room closed while it runs

The filters are the one part you’ll look after yourself, so we show you how. In busy periods, clean them every few weeks, or as the manual recommends, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.

Keep the outdoor unit clear. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.

HP6: your questions answered

Do you look at the job first?

Yes. Photos often do the job for simple work, while bigger systems and repairs that need testing get a visit.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. Maintenance contracts are part of what we do, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Every visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.

Does servicing affect my warranty?

It can, for some brands. Read the manufacturer’s terms, or send us the make and model and we will explain them and stick to the interval they set.

Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?

Most of the time, yes: modern splits are normally heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust points out that an air-to-air heat pump is often just called air conditioning. We confirm the heating function of the model we quote.

How do I know what size unit to get?

We size each room on the survey, from its size, glazing, orientation and use. Too small, and it runs flat out; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy and we explain the output we recommend.

Will I need planning permission?

Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing spots in conservation areas are where it typically comes up and the survey picks it up. This is general information, not legal advice.
