Air conditioning servicing across the Isle of Wight: what to expect
A service is as much a check-up as a clean. The engineer checks fans, pipe insulation, controls and electrical connections, and tells you about anything that looks like it’s heading for trouble. The work covers multi-split systems, wall-mounted split systems and ceiling cassettes, and people most often call us about no service record for the last year or more and water dripping from the indoor unit.
If the system has to be off for part of the visit, we tell you before we start, so you can plan around it. In a business, work can often be done one area at a time. The work takes an hour or so for a single wall-mounted unit, longer for a multi-split system.
- When you book, we ask what make it is, how many rooms it serves and whether anything seems wrong.
- We run the system first and see how it’s performing.
- We clean the filters and coils and make sure the condensate drains away.
- Next come the terminals, the controller and the refrigerant side, with a leak check if the system’s size makes one a legal duty.
- You get a service record, with anything that needs attention explained.

Some jobs can be priced from pictures, while others need a survey. Bigger systems, commercial sites and awkward pipe routes are normally surveyed on site. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Air conditioning servicing around the Isle of Wight
Across the Isle of Wight, from Newport, Ryde and Cowes to the villages, we service home and business systems. Most homes need a service once a year, with F-gas leak checks for business systems where the law requires them.
Message us from anywhere in the Isle of Wight and you’ll hear back the same working day. Breakdowns can go to the 24/7 line instead. Near the coast in the Isle of Wight, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service, and some manufacturers offer corrosion-protected coils.
Newport: A service once a year suits most home systems, and some business systems need more. For a school like Nine Acres Primary School, maintenance visits can be booked out of term.
Owner checks or an engineer?
Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and ring us on 07833 053749 or email us.
Write down what you notice: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.
Landlords, agents and facilities managers
Facilities teams in offices, schools and public buildings book us too across the Isle of Wight. Work can be phased by floor, zone or building around the people who use them.
We regularly work with managing agents. Tell us the property, the work and the access arrangements and we will come back with a fixed-price quote.
When something else is needed
We’d rather tell you now than sell you work that will not help, so here are the limits:
- Rooms that gain heat faster than any unit could cope with
- Lost refrigerant, where the fix is a leak repair
- A failed compressor, fan motor or circuit board, which needs a repair
Different systems, different jobs
Refrigerant performance and leak checks
To find tCO2e, multiply the kg of refrigerant by its GWP and divide by 1,000. So 3 kg of R32 is roughly 2.0 tCO2e, and the same amount of R410A is roughly 6.3 tCO2e. We check the label on your system and tell you where it sits.
Fans and electrics
We look at the wiring and terminals for anything loose or discoloured. A loose terminal can be the cause of an intermittent fault and is easily put right.
Your questions about air conditioning servicing in the Isle of Wight
What does an annual air con service cost?
An annual service is £95–£150 + VAT. You will know the price before the engineer arrives, and larger multi-split, ducted or commercial systems are priced on their details.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, day and night. Call the emergency line and tell us the make, the symptoms and any error code, and we’ll advise on what to do next.
Will I get records for the system?
Yes. You get a written record of every visit, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. Keep them with the manual and the warranty documents.
Can we book visits on a schedule?
Yes. Tell us what you have and how it’s used and we’ll propose a schedule and quote for it. That can include the leak checks the F-gas rules require for larger systems.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We can tell you which band your system falls into.
When is an F-gas leak check required?
The GOV.UK rules set leak checks at least every 12 months for 5 to under 50 tCO2e and every 6 months for 50 to under 500 tCO2e. With leak detection fitted, the interval can be doubled and we’ll confirm which band applies.
What does F-Gas certified mean?
Certification shows a business is approved to work on systems that hold F gas refrigerant. In Great Britain, that certification is a legal requirement, not an optional extra, and we hold it.
