Air conditioning servicing for Puckpool

Air conditioning servicing for homes and businesses in Puckpool

A service is not the same as a regas. Refrigerant runs in a sealed circuit and shouldn’t need adding to. Where the checks suggest gas has been lost, the right step is to find the leak, and we’ll set out how. The work covers multi-split systems, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems, and people most often call us about F-gas leak checks falling due and a service that’s overdue.

For a home in or near Puckpool, a service once a year suits most systems, best done before summer.

Refrigerant work is written up in the F-Gas records: the work carried out, the refrigerant involved and the quantities. File them with the system’s paperwork, ready for the next service or a warranty query.

What air conditioning will not do

Air conditioning servicing cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It will not put right:

  • A refrigerant leak, which needs finding and repairing, not topping up
  • Major component failures that call for a repair visit
  • Pipework or drainage that was badly installed in the first place

If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we will say what we think before you book.

What the work covers

  • Air-to-air heat pumps
  • Wall-mounted split systems
  • Ceiling cassettes
  • VRF systems
  • Ducted systems
  • Multi-split systems

The process

The work area is kept tidy throughout, with sheets down and mess cleared as we go. If we need to drill through a wall, we agree the spot with you first. The visit takes anything from an hour for a simple split system to most of a day for a larger installation. If a lane or gateway near Puckpool is tight for a van, let us know and we will plan for it.

  1. A date is fixed and the service price confirmed in advance.
  2. Before any cleaning, the system is run so we can see how it behaves.
  3. Then the cleaning: filters, coils, fan and the drain line.
  4. The electrics, controls and refrigerant performance are checked, with a leak check where required.
  5. It’s run once more to confirm all is well, and the record is left with you.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any managing agent or landlord rules we need to follow
  • Have the make and model of any existing unit to hand
  • Let us know where we can park and unload

Advice

When to call us in Puckpool

When the system cools, water condenses on the indoor coil. Dust sticks to a wet surface, and over time the coil and drain tray can get dirty enough to smell.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Iced-up coils or pipework
  • Drips or damp patches below an indoor unit
  • A unit showing a fault code

For a school like Oakfield Church of England Aided Primary School, maintenance visits can be booked out of term.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
  • The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted
  • If the figure could change on the day

Choosing an air con installer

After we have gone

Once we have finished, these simple steps help:

  • Hold on to every service report
  • Keep the filters clean between visits
  • Shut doors to the room so the system isn’t cooling the whole house

Run the system for a while after the visit and check it feels right. If anything seems off, call us on 07833 053749 or drop us a line and we’ll talk it through.

Check that the condensate pipe outside can still drain. A pipe that’s been knocked or covered can back up into the indoor unit.

Puckpool: your questions answered

How often do you service systems in Puckpool?

For most homes, once a year. Some manufacturers’ warranty terms ask for regular servicing, so it’s worth keeping the records.

Will you come out to Puckpool?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. Visits to smaller places are planned so the engineer arrives with what the job needs.

When will I hear back?

We reply to enquiries the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: a look first, a fixed-price quote and written records.

Which brands do you work with?

Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.

How long does an air conditioning service take?

As a guide, it takes around an hour for one indoor and one outdoor unit, with extra time for each additional indoor unit. Units that are hard to reach can take longer, and we’ll tell you in advance.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. It’s the record a manufacturer or the next engineer will ask to see: the date, the work, and any refrigerant added or recovered.

Air conditioning servicing in Puckpool: the local picture

At about 1 mile from the coast, Puckpool is close enough for sea air to matter. Salt air settles on outdoor coils, so coastal systems benefit from regular servicing. Puckpool’s centre falls inside a designated conservation area. About 13 listed entries lie within half a mile of central Puckpool, Appley Tower (grade II) among them. Swapping an outdoor unit on a listed building or in a conservation area may need consent, so we will flag it if a replacement is needed. VOA council tax data put about 36% of homes in and around Puckpool before 1919, and the last census (2021) found about 61% of households in detached or semi-detached houses. A photo of the outdoor unit and its surroundings tells us what access the visit needs.
