About air conditioning in the Isle of Wight

We approach an installation much as a doctor approaches a patient: survey first, install second, commission and hand over last. The sign-off includes testing every mode, showing you the controls and handing over the F-Gas records. We are often asked to deal with a business premises that overheats in summer and a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer, on multi-split systems, air-to-air heat pumps and wall-mounted split systems.

Our engineers arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. On site, it takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.

  1. Diagnosis comes first, with a survey of the rooms, outside space and fuse board.
  2. Next, a recommendation for each room and a fixed price.
  3. Then the work: units up, pipes and drain run, and a new circuit where needed.
  4. Before it runs, the pipework is proved tight and put under vacuum.
  5. Finally, the clean bill of health: commissioning, the controls explained and your paperwork handed over.

How we quote

Whatever the property, the quote works the same way: what’s needed, how we reach it, the parts and the labour. Call for a fixed-price quote and we will go through it with you.

Local landmarks in Newport

We fit and service air conditioning in homes and premises around Seaclose Park, Castle Inn and Island Innovation VI Form Campus, among other places. You will also find Christ The King College (0.6 miles south-west) and Nine Acres Primary School (less than half a mile south). Well-known places in the area include Carisbrooke Castle (1 mile south-west) and St Mary's Hospital (0.8 miles north). Not far away are Briddlesford Nature Reserve and Mill Hill.

Air conditioning around the Isle of Wight

From Newport, Ryde and Cowes outwards, the Isle of Wight has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.

We reply to enquiries from the Isle of Wight the same working day, and our emergency line is open 24/7. Parts of the Isle of Wight are on or near the coast, where salt air is hard on outdoor units. We choose positions and fixings with that in mind.

Newport: About 1 mile south-west stands Carisbrooke Castle. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one. Most people start with the room that gets hottest, then add more rooms on a multi-split if needed.

Why it fails

Most overheating comes from heat gained through the day. Sunshine through glazing, especially on south and west-facing rooms, adds a lot of heat, and once the room has warmed up, it holds on to it into the evening.

It’s time to call us if you are dealing with:

  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm
  • Old electric heaters you’d like to replace with something more efficient
  • A room that is unbearable on warm days
  • Rooms under the roof that stay hot into the night

Why deal with it now?

The outdoor unit’s position is worth getting right first time. A good position keeps noise down and leaves room for servicing, and it can affect whether planning permission is needed. We agree it with you on the survey.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
  • Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
  • Which VAT rate the quote uses, and why
  • Whether they looked at the job before pricing it

What the work involves, system by system

Ducted systems

Ducted systems need space for the unit and the ductwork, and access for servicing. The survey confirms whether there’s room.

Outdoor unit positions

On flats and terraced houses, space outside is often the deciding factor. We look at walls, roofs, balconies and yards on the survey and we flag any consent you may need.

Fixed-price quotes for air conditioning in the Isle of Wight

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • What electrical work the job needs
  • The equipment or parts the job needs
  • What kind of system it is
  • Access, including height, roofs and ladders

The price reflects the work, not guesswork. That is why every job is looked at first, and why the quote is fixed before work begins.

What to send for a quote

When you call or email, these details help:

  • A short video of any fault, such as a noise or a flashing light
  • The make and model of the system, from the label
  • Wide pictures of the room or the existing unit
  • The address and the type of property

Photos are enough for some jobs; others need a visit first. Multi-room systems, commercial buildings and anything with a long or hidden pipe route are normally surveyed first. Either way, you get a fixed price before any work is booked.

Questions from the Isle of Wight

Will I get records for the system?

Yes, always. New installations come with commissioning details, F-Gas records and warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

Can air conditioning heat my home as well?

Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.

Do I need planning permission?

Not necessarily. On a house, air-to-water heat pumps and, since 2025, air-to-air systems that heat as well as cool can be permitted development if they meet the conditions. Permission is more likely to come up for cooling-only units, listed buildings, flats and road-facing positions in conservation areas, and we tell you at the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

Where does the outdoor unit go?

It can go on a wall bracket, at ground level or on a flat roof, wherever the pipe route, airflow and servicing access work best. We also think about noise near bedrooms and neighbours and position can affect planning.

Can I fit air conditioning or a heat pump myself?

Anything that involves the refrigerant needs an F-Gas qualified engineer from a certified company. That’s the law, not just our preference, and manufacturers expect it for their warranty too. We can quote for the whole job, from supply to commissioning.

Will you make a mess?

We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and the area is kept tidy throughout. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.

What warranty do I get?

The manufacturer provides it, on its own terms. Some brands make regular servicing a condition, so keep your service records.
