Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Yaverland
Most air conditioning needs its own electrical supply from the consumer unit. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and our NICEIC approval means we install and certify it ourselves. Air con, air conditioning, a split system: whatever you call it, in Yaverland it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.
Space outside is rarely the problem in a place like Yaverland. The questions are more often the age of the walls, the electrics and how far the pipes need to run.
Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of their warranty. Where yours does, a regular service with us keeps that side in order and each visit is recorded.

What the work involves, system by system
Electrical supply
We check the consumer unit on the survey, so the quote covers any electrical work needed. Older boards sometimes need more work to take a new circuit, and we explain why if so.
Offices, shops and commercial rooms
Larger buildings may suit VRF, which runs many indoor units from shared outdoor units. VRF and larger commercial jobs are priced after a survey and the quote sets out the design.
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
For air conditioning, cleaning the indoor unit’s filters is the main job owners can do, if the manual says so. With the power off, they lift out, can be vacuumed or rinsed and must be fully dry before they go back. For a heat pump, the main owner jobs are a clear outdoor unit and sensible control settings.
Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

FAQs for Yaverland
Will you come out to Yaverland?
Yes. Yaverland is within the area we cover across London and the South East. We’re based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Yaverland?
It comes down to the building and the spot chosen for the outdoor unit. The centre of Yaverland is in a conservation area. Since 2025, an air-to-air heat pump on a house can count as permitted development if it meets the conditions and isn’t used only for cooling. Listed buildings still need consent, and in a conservation area a road-facing wall or roof is not allowed under those rules. If there’s any doubt, we ask the planning department at Isle of Wight council, usually the authority for Yaverland.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, day and night. When you call, tell us the make, what’s happening and any error code, and we will talk you through the next steps.
Can you look at a system you didn’t fit?
Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own from all the leading brands. Tell us the make and model and send any paperwork you have.
How long will the installation take?
It takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. The survey tells us how long your installation will need so there are no surprises.
Are you F-Gas certified?
F-Gas company certification, NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps, plus Checkatrade membership. Engineers who handle refrigerant hold their own F-gas qualifications as well.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
The F-gas rules share it between the equipment’s operator and the engineers who work on it. The interval depends on the refrigerant charge, measured in tonnes of CO2 equivalent: at least every 12 months from 5 tCO2e, and every 6 months from 50 tCO2e.

What happens on the day
Think of the visit in three stages: look, put right and sign off. First comes a careful look at the system or the space, then the work itself, and finally everything is tested, recorded and explained. Most of the time goes on the middle part, and that takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. For a place like Yaverland, the timing is set with you and the travel is our side of the planning.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
Getting ready for the visit
- Dig out any previous service or F-Gas records
- Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
Ask for a quote
Our prices page gives typical ranges, but your quote is based on your job, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. After a look at the job, by photos or a survey, the price is fixed. To start, give us a ring on 07833 053749 or send an email.

Common problems we fix in Yaverland
Some people come to us for heating rather than cooling. Direct electric heaters convert electricity into heat one for one, while an air-to-air heat pump moves heat from outside, which means more heat out than electricity in. Most modern split systems work this way.
These are the situations we see most often:
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
- Too many options and no clear advice
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
About 0.5 miles north stands Yaverland Manor. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it
- What records you get at the end
- Why the equipment they’re quoting suits the job
