Isle of Wight · Air conditioning installation
Hillway air conditioning
For air conditioning installation in Hillway, choose an F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved company. Fixed-price quotes and a 24/7 emergency line.
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
- A room that is unbearable on warm days
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
Rented and managed buildings
The F-gas rules share responsibility for leak checking between the equipment’s operator and the service technicians. In a let or managed building, it’s worth agreeing who that operator is and we’re happy to deal with whoever it is.
We regularly work with managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and how access works and we’ll come back with a fixed-price quote.
Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Hillway
Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Just ring us on 07833 053749 or use the quote form with pictures of the rooms and the outside of the property, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day about a survey or a fixed-price quote. Air conditioning installation in Hillway starts with a site survey, followed by a fixed-price quote with the brand, model and every part of the job set out.
In a village like Hillway, many homes are older, and some are listed. We check that first, because permitted development does not apply within the grounds of a listed building, and the outdoor unit position is chosen to suit the building.
Any work on the refrigerant circuit is recorded: what was done, the refrigerant type and any amount added or recovered. Keep the records with the manual and the warranty documents, as a manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.

When to call us in Hillway
Some people come to us for heating rather than cooling. Direct electric heaters convert electricity into heat one for one, while an air-to-air heat pump moves heat from outside, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. That is how most modern split systems work.
These are the situations we see most often:
- A home office that warms up with screens and equipment
- A room that’s unbearable on warm days
- Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
Homes near Bembridge Methodist Church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.
What to look for in a quote
- Whether extra work needs your approval first
- The make and model of any parts or equipment being quoted
- Whether the quote is a fixed price
Honest limits
Before booking, it helps to know what’s not included:
- Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling
- A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- Damp or condensation caused by leaks or poor ventilation in the building (that needs the cause fixing)
If in doubt, call us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Hillway: your questions answered
Is Hillway within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We are based in East Grinstead and plan each visit so the job can be finished in one trip where possible.
Is the coast a problem for outdoor units in Hillway?
It can. Hillway is within about 1 mile of the coast, and salt air speeds up corrosion on outdoor units. The outdoor unit position, its fixings and regular servicing all help near the sea.
Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?
The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
How long does it take to fit air conditioning?
It takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. We confirm the time when we quote so there are no surprises.
Can I have air conditioning in a flat?
In many cases, but permissions come first. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls and the lease will say. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.
Will you work on another installer’s system?
Yes. We look at it first and tell you what we find, including anything about the original installation that needs putting right. You get a fixed price before any work goes ahead.
Who is responsible for leak checks?
The operator of the equipment, working with qualified engineers. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We’ll work out which band applies to yours.
How it works
Each visit follows the same order: agree the plan on site, protect the area, do the work, test what we’ve done and talk you through it. On site, the work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems. If a lane or gateway near Hillway is tight for a van, let us know and we’ll plan for it.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
Getting ready for the visit
- Arrange for someone to be there to let us in
- Let us know if the building has a permit or sign-in process
- Tell us about access, such as roof hatches, high walls or locked plant areas
Getting a price
Quoting starts with a diagnosis, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. Then you get a fixed price before any work starts.

“Excellent service from start to finish. Two wall-mounted units installed in our home. Clean, tidy work: they protected all the floors and left no mess. The systems work brilliantly. Would highly recommend.”
