Air conditioning installation in Bonchurch

Not sure what you need, or where it would go? Send a few pictures of the rooms and the outside walls when you give us a ring on 07833 053749 or send an email, and you’ll hear back from us the same working day to arrange a survey or a quote. Whether you call it air con, air conditioning or an air-to-air heat pump, in Bonchurch it means the same thing to us: the right unit in the right place, fitted and commissioned properly.

The outdoor unit position is the biggest single decision: we balance airflow, noise, the pipe run and access for future servicing.

In a village like Bonchurch, many homes are older, and some are listed. That matters, because a listed home needs consent and permitted development rules don’t apply to it.

Whatever the visit, you get a written record: commissioning details for an installation, a fault and repair note for a repair, or a record of the service. Keep it with the system’s paperwork, because it helps with any later warranty question.

How we price air conditioning

Every job gets its own quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • One-off work versus a regular service cycle
  • The condition of any existing system
  • The number of rooms, units or zones

Every job is different, so we price each one individually. The system, the access, the pipe routes and the parts involved all play a part.

Before you get in touch

Good photos often save a visit. Try to include:

  • The remote or wall controller showing any error
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • Wide photos of the room or the existing unit

Published ranges are a starting point; the quote is built on your property, because no two buildings, rooms or systems are the same. Once we’ve looked at the job, from photos or on a survey, you get a fixed price. To get going, call us on 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk.

The process

The first job on site is protection: sheets over the floor and any furniture nearby, and we ask before moving anything. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. It takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system, and we clear up before we go. For a place like Bonchurch, the timing is set with you and the travel is our side of the planning.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
  3. On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
  4. The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
  5. Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the space around the indoor unit, or where it will go
  • Mention any parking restrictions near the property
  • Give us access to the outside wall, roof or yard where the outdoor unit sits

How to get a quote

Every quote starts with a look at the job, either on a site survey or, for simple jobs, from your photos and details. After that, we send a fixed price before any work starts.

FAQs for Bonchurch

Is the coast a problem for outdoor units in Bonchurch?

It can, as Bonchurch is within about 1 mile of the sea, where salt in the air is hard on coils and fixings. We site outdoor units out of the worst of the sea wind where possible and can suggest models with corrosion protection where the manufacturer offers it.

Will you come out to Bonchurch?

We do. Villages and hamlets get the same service as the bigger towns. A few pictures and the postcode are enough to get things started.

Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?

That depends on the brand. Where servicing is a condition, a missed service could give the manufacturer grounds to refuse a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.

Should I choose wall-mounted, ducted or cassette?

There’s no single best type. Wall-mounted splits suit single rooms, multi-splits run several rooms from one outdoor unit, ducted systems hide the unit in the ceiling, and cassettes suit offices and larger rooms. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons.

Can you fit air conditioning in a leasehold flat?

In many cases, but permissions come first. Leaseholders normally need consent from the landlord or management company for an outdoor unit and holes through outside walls, so check the lease. Permitted development rules for flats are also tighter than for houses, so we point out anything that may need permission on the survey. This is general information, not legal advice.

How soon will you get back to me?

You’ll hear from us the same working day. If it’s an emergency, ring the 24/7 line instead.

Will I get records for the system?

Yes. Each visit is written up, and any work on the refrigerant circuit goes in the F-Gas records. File them with the system’s paperwork.

Safe owner checks

Owners can handle the everyday basics: keeping the outdoor unit clear, checking the mode and set temperature, and the routine cleaning in the manual. Anything inside the units, the electrics and the refrigerant is engineer’s work.

Keep a note of anything odd: error codes, noises, drips, smells or a drop in performance. It helps us diagnose quickly, and a photo or a short video of the display is even better.

Common problems we fix in Bonchurch

Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A small office or a busy room can warm up fast with equipment and people in it, even when it isn’t especially hot outside.

Reasons to give us a call include:

  • A system on old refrigerant that’s due for replacement
  • Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
  • Uncertainty over the right type and size of system

With historic houses such as Rylstone Manor about 1.8 miles north, it’s a reminder that older homes nearby may be listed, which changes the planning rules.

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they looked at the job before pricing it
  • What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long
  • Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved

Choosing an air con installer

Air conditioning in Bonchurch: local notes

Bonchurch is within about 1 mile of the coast. Some manufacturers offer anti-corrosion coated coils for coastal sites, and we will tell you if the model you choose has that option. About 47% of homes in the Bonchurch area were built before 1919, according to Valuation Office Agency council tax records. Older properties often mean solid walls and period details, so pipe runs are planned to stay neat and out of sight. Central Bonchurch is inside a conservation area. Listed buildings are part of the picture here: about 37 within half a mile of the centre, such as Church of St Boniface (old Church) (grade II*). None of this rules air conditioning out. It just means the planning position is checked before anyone suggests a spot for the outdoor unit.

Older streets near Old St. Boniface Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes.
