Air conditioning across PO34: what to expect
Air conditioning is not only for summer: most modern splits heat too. The Energy Saving Trust recognises that air-to-air heat pumps often go by the name air conditioning, so a well-chosen unit can be useful in winter as well as summer. We’re often asked to deal with a room that’s unbearable on warm days and too many options and no clear advice, on VRF systems, ceiling cassettes and ducted systems.
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Dust sheets go down over floors and anything close to the work, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.
- First comes a site survey, or pictures and measurements for a straightforward job.
- We size the system for each room, then send a fixed-price quote with the units and where they go.
- The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
- The electrical supply is connected, and the refrigerant circuit is pressure tested and evacuated.
- Last comes the run-up: every mode checked, the controls explained and the paperwork left with you.

Landmarks near Nettlestone

For rail, the closest station is Smallbrook Junction station, about 1.8 miles west. A little further out are Sandown Castle (4.1 miles south) and Cothey Bottom Heritage Centre (1.2 miles west). Green spaces nearby include Alan Hersey Nature Reserve and Bembridge Down.
Air conditioning across PO34: local notes
From Appley, Nettlestone and Seaview outwards, PO34 has every kind of home. Each install starts with a survey of the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, then a fixed-price quote.
Our area stretches from Greater London through Surrey, Kent and Sussex to Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, and PO34 sits within it. One phone number covers all of it. Near the coast in PO34, outdoor units last longer with shelter from sea wind and a yearly service.
Nettlestone: Older streets near St. Helen's Church may fall within a conservation area, so we check the planning position before choosing where the outdoor unit goes. About 2.8 miles south-west stands Nunwell House. Listed homes in any area need consent first, so tell us if yours is one.
Managing agents and facilities teams in PO34
We work for landlords, letting agents and managing agents as well as homeowners and businesses. Tell us who the contact on site is and who should receive the paperwork, and we’ll keep everyone informed.
Whether it’s one property or many, the approach is the same: a look at the job first, a fixed-price quote, work booked with the occupier and written records afterwards.
Why act early?
Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A properly installed split moves heat outside, keeps the noisy parts out of the room and in most cases heats too, so it works for you in winter as well.
Questions to ask before booking
- What the manufacturer’s warranty covers and for how long
- Whether a new circuit is included and who certifies it
- Whether you get F-Gas records where refrigerant is involved
- Whether testing, commissioning and paperwork are included
Looking after your system
To keep the system working properly:
- Refit filters properly after cleaning
- Leave space around the outdoor unit
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Tell us if the unit starts to leak, rattle or show a code
Questions after the installation go to the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display, and we’ll talk it through with you.
Give the outdoor unit room to breathe. Anything piled against it, from leaves to garden furniture, reduces the airflow, which makes the whole system less efficient.
Safe owner checks
Some faults have simple causes you can check first: check the mode, the set temperature, the remote’s batteries and the breaker. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and call 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.
Good habits make our visits easier, not unnecessary. Clean filters and a clear outdoor unit help the system run as it should, but the refrigerant circuit, the electrics and the parts you cannot see still need an engineer at the interval the manufacturer recommends.
PO34 questions
How do you keep the place clean during the work?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some warranty terms require the system to be serviced regularly by a qualified engineer, so check the terms or ask us. Keep every service record either way.
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
The main ones, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. For new systems, we recommend a brand and model to suit the job and explain why.
Do you look at the job first?
Yes. Every job is looked at first, on a survey, or from your pictures and details where the job is simple. Then you get a fixed-price quote.
Will I need planning permission?
It depends on the system and the property. In England, an air source heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, while a unit that only cools isn’t covered and needs checking with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.
What warranty do I get?
The manufacturer provides it, on its own terms. Some brands make regular servicing a condition so it’s worth keeping the service records.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, we work the same way: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
