How air conditioning works in PO30
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, along with the manufacturer’s warranty terms on your quote. Common call-outs are for a loft room or top floor that bakes in summer and rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in, across VRF systems, ceiling cassettes and multi-split systems.
On the day, we arrive at the time agreed with you and run through the plan before anything else. Floors and furniture near the work are covered with dust sheets, and anything electrical is made safe before work starts. The work itself takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer.
- We survey the property, or work from your pictures for a simple job.
- Output, positions and price are settled before anything is booked.
- On the day, dust sheets go down and the indoor and outdoor units are fitted.
- Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
- It’s switched on, checked and handed over with its records.
What you will pay
No two properties are the same, so we price each one individually. The equipment, how we reach it, the route between units and the work needed all make a difference.
What you get with us
- Covering London and the South East
- Clear warranty information from the manufacturer

Where we install in PO30
Planning rules are the same across England, PO30 included: an air-to-air system that heats as well as cools can be permitted development on a house, but cooling-only units, listed buildings and outdoor units facing a road in conservation areas need more care.
PO30 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Every job starts with a site survey or photos, then a fixed-price quote. In the coastal parts of PO30, outdoor units benefit from a sheltered position and regular servicing.
Newport: Starting with one room is common, and the outdoor unit can be chosen with more rooms in mind. Carisbrooke Castle, about 1 mile south-west, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it.
When something else is needed
A few issues sit outside what this work can do:
- A room that cannot take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
- A lack of fresh air (most split systems recirculate room air rather than bringing fresh air in, which is a job for ventilation)
- Gas boiler or central heating faults (we don’t work on gas boilers)
Why act early?
Size matters more than brand. Too small, and it runs flat out without catching up; too big, and it switches on and off and wastes energy. Sizing each room properly on the survey avoids both.
What your quote should include
- How extra work would be agreed if they find something unexpected
- Whether the company is F-Gas certified, and whether you can check it
- What records you get at the end
- Whether the electrical work is done by a registered contractor, such as NICEIC approved
Signs you need air conditioning
Not everyone is after cooling. Direct electric heaters convert electricity into heat one for one, while an air-to-air heat pump moves heat from outside, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. Most modern split systems work this way.
If any of these sounds familiar, it’s worth a diagnosis:
- Portable units that are noisy and barely cope
- Uncertainty over the right type and size of system
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
- An ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life
Aftercare tips
Here’s the after-treatment advice, in brief:
- Let filters dry fully before you put them back
- Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
- Keep the indoor unit’s filters clean
- File the paperwork with the manual
The filters are the one part you will look after yourself, so we show you how. Clean them every few weeks when the system is in heavy use, or as the manual recommends, and keep space clear around the outdoor unit.
Clean the filters regularly, not just at the service. Clean filters keep the air moving and help the system work as designed, which costs you more to run.
Common questions in PO30
Which accreditations do you hold?
F-Gas certified, NICEIC approved and MCS certified for heat pumps, and we’re Checkatrade members. Our engineers also hold the individual F-gas qualifications needed to work on refrigerant.
Will you make a mess?
Protection goes down first: dust sheets over floors and anything close to the work. Any drilling is agreed with you first, and we clear up the dust and offcuts before we leave.
Is air conditioning possible in a flat?
That depends on the lease, the building and where the outdoor unit could go. Balconies, flat roofs and rear walls can all work, subject to consent and the survey looks at every option. This is general information, not legal advice.
Which type of air conditioning is best?
The right one depends on how many rooms you want to cool, how much space there is outside and how visible you want the indoor units to be. Ducted systems need a ceiling void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling, which we check on the survey.
How much is air conditioning for one room?
For one room, a split system is typically £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. Two rooms on a multi-split are typically £2,800–£4,500 + VAT, and three to five rooms £4,500–£8,500 + VAT, with supply, fitting, commissioning and F-Gas documentation included. You get a fixed price before any work starts.
Does servicing affect my warranty?
Check the manufacturer’s terms. Some manufacturers make regular servicing by a qualified engineer a condition of the warranty, so check the terms or ask us. Keep every service record either way.
Do you work on all makes?
We work with the leading brands, including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi. Tell us the make and model and we’ll take it from there.
