Air conditioning in W14: how it works
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Hitachi are among the brands we fit. The survey ends with a recommendation and the reasons for it, and the manufacturer’s warranty terms are set out on your quote. The work covers ducted systems, air-to-air heat pumps and VRF systems, and the jobs we see most are an ageing air conditioning system near the end of its life and a business premises that overheats in summer.
Protection comes first: dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work and nothing is moved without asking you. After that, anything electrical is made safe and we start. The work on site takes a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer, and we tidy up before we leave.
- We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from photos and details for simple jobs.
- The quote is fixed and shows the equipment, where each unit goes and what’s included.
- On the day, we fit the indoor and outdoor units and run the pipework, cable and condensate drain.
- Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
- The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.
What affects the price in W14
Height, access and the distance between the indoor and outdoor units can all change the price. Each of those is built into the quote, and the price is fixed before work begins.

Where we install in W14
Our air conditioning work across W14 takes in places such as Kensington, Fulham and Holland Park and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for W14, 10 in all.
Refrigerant work is done by F-gas qualified engineers for a certified company, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval, in W14 as everywhere else.
Earl's Court: If you work from home near West Brompton station, a home office that overheats is one of the easiest rooms to cool. Garden Lodge (roughly 0.3 miles north-west) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
System by system
Electrical supply
We check the consumer unit on the survey, so any extra electrical work is on the quote rather than a surprise on the day. An older board may need extra work, and we explain why if so.
Outdoor unit positions
The outdoor unit can go on a wall bracket, on the ground or on a flat roof, depending on the property and the pipe route. It needs airflow around it and room for servicing.
What you can do yourself, and what needs us
Refrigerant is off limits for anyone without the right qualifications. Under the F-gas rules, engineers need their own qualifications and the company must be certified, and escaping refrigerant can cause cold burns. If you suspect a leak, switch the system off and call us.
Owner care supports servicing; it doesn’t replace it. Simple care keeps the air moving through the system, but the inside of the units, the refrigerant and the electrics still need a qualified engineer.
Common problems we fix in W14
Not everyone is after cooling. Old direct electric heaters turn electricity straight into heat, while a heat pump moves heat in from the outside air, which means more heat out than electricity in. Most modern split systems work this way.
Look out for any of the following:
- A portable unit with a hose out of the window
- Rooms heated by plug-in heaters
- Rooms that get too hot to sleep or work in
- A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
Managing agents and facilities teams in W14
Portfolio owners often want one contractor and one number. Our area covers Greater London and the South East, so a run of properties can go into one programme and kept to a regular schedule.
If you look after several properties, we can quote and plan the work across all of them. Every address has its own paperwork, so each one has its own history.
W14 questions
Which manufacturers do you install and repair?
Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi and others. For a new system, we suggest the make and model that suit the property and tell you why.
Will you make a mess?
We put dust sheets over floors and furniture near the work first, and we tidy up as we go. Before we leave, we clear up and run through the work with you.
Do you cover W14?
Yes. We work in W14 and the rest of Greater London, within the London and South East area we cover. To book, ring us on 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.
Which accreditations do you hold?
We are an F-Gas certified company, NICEIC approved for electrical work and MCS certified for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.
Do I need to service the system to keep the warranty?
That depends on the brand. If servicing is in the terms, missing one could affect a claim, so we explain the terms on your quote.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. From a single let flat to offices, shops and public buildings, the approach is the same: survey or diagnosis, a fixed price and proper paperwork.
Whose job is it to check the system for leaks?
Whoever operates the equipment, together with the technicians who service it. Systems below 5 tCO2e fall outside the set leak check intervals, while larger ones need checks at least every 12 months, or every 6 months from 50 tCO2e. We will work out which band applies to yours.
