About air conditioning in W10
We fit wall-mounted splits, multi-split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes, plus VRF systems for bigger commercial buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see and we talk you through it on the survey. We’re often asked to deal with a home office that warms up with screens and equipment and an office, shop or restaurant that’s uncomfortable for staff and customers, across wall-mounted split systems, ducted systems and ceiling cassettes.
Refrigerant work is done by qualified engineers working for an F-Gas certified company, while the electrical side is covered by our NICEIC approval. On the day, both are in the same hands. The work takes about a day for a single-room system, longer for multi-room and ducted systems.
- We start by looking at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go.
- You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
- Brackets go on, the units are hung and the refrigerant lines, cable and drain are routed between them.
- Power is wired in, the joints are proved leak-tight under pressure and a vacuum pump draws out air and moisture.
- Finally, it’s commissioned, tested in each mode and handed over with the F-Gas records.
How we quote
What you pay depends on the type of system and how many units are involved, the access and the parts and time the job needs. You get a fixed price before any work starts, so there are no surprises.

Where we install in W10
Our air conditioning work across W10 takes in places such as Kilburn, Notting Dale and Kensal Town and the smaller places around them. We cover every place we list for W10, 9 in all.
W10 is within the area we cover from our base in East Grinstead. Each job starts with a survey and a fixed-price quote.
Kensal Town: Living close to St Thomas Kensal Town? Some older properties in parts like that are protected, and the survey finds out whether yours is. Kensington Palace (roughly 1.6 miles south-east) shows the area has its share of heritage. A listed home needs consent before an outdoor unit or pipework goes on.
Different systems, different jobs
Outdoor unit positions
On flats and terraced houses, space outside is often the deciding factor. Every option is checked on the survey and we flag any consent you may need.
Electrical supply
The fuse board is looked at during the survey, so any extra electrical work is on the quote rather than a surprise on the day. An older board may need extra work and we’ll tell you if yours does.
Looking after your system
A little care keeps the system in better shape. Our advice:
- Flag any change in how the system sounds or performs
- Clean the filters every few weeks when the system is in heavy use
- Close windows and doors while the system is cooling
- Choose a comfortable set temperature rather than the lowest
If anything is not right after we have gone, call us on the same number. Tell us what the system is doing, and any code on the display and we’ll help you sort it out.
Do not ignore small changes. Water from the indoor unit, a new rattle or a code on the display normally means something needs attention and catching it early keeps the repair small.
For landlords and property managers
Where a tenant occupies the property but the landlord owns the system, it’s worth checking the agreement for who looks after the system. We can quote either party, and the paperwork can go to both.
Keeping records across a portfolio is half the battle. Each visit is written up, with F-Gas records wherever refrigerant work is involved, so you can show what was done and when.
Leave it or put it right?
New systems now use lower-impact refrigerants. From 2025, single splits under 3 kg cannot use refrigerants with a GWP over 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. R410A, used in many older systems, has a GWP of 2088.
Questions to ask before booking
- If the figure could change on the day
- Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
- If the quote is based on a survey, pictures or a diagnosis
- What happens if the job turns out to be different on the day
W10 questions
What accreditations do you have?
We are an F-Gas certified company, with NICEIC approval for electrical work and MCS certification for heat pumps. We’re members of Checkatrade too.
How does the warranty work?
It’s the manufacturer’s, and the terms are theirs. Some brands make regular servicing a condition so it’s worth keeping the service records.
How much does air conditioning installation cost?
From £1,200 + VAT for a single-room split, with a typical range of £1,200–£2,200 + VAT. That covers supply, installation, commissioning and the F-Gas paperwork, and we fix it after a survey or from your photos.
Does air conditioning work as heating?
Yes, most modern split systems run as heat pumps, so they can heat a room in winter. The Energy Saving Trust notes that air-to-air heat pumps are sometimes referred to as air conditioning. Some cooling-only models exist, so we confirm it for the model on your quote.
Where does the outdoor unit go?
The position is agreed on the survey, not on the day. It needs space around it to breathe and room for an engineer to service it, and walls or roofs facing a road can raise planning questions. We explain the options and any permissions to check.
Is W10 in your area?
Yes. W10 is part of the area we cover, within the South East and London area we cover. Our base is in East Grinstead, West Sussex.
Do you work on systems someone else installed?
Yes. We work on systems fitted by other installers as well as our own, on all the main brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.
