Air con installation in NW11

Our air conditioning service in NW11

A new system normally needs a dedicated circuit from the fuse board. Adding a new circuit is notifiable building work under Part P unless it’s done by a registered competent person, and as NICEIC approved contractors we can install and certify it as part of the job. The work covers ducted systems, wall-mounted split systems and VRF systems, and the jobs we see most are an old system that needs replacing and a portable unit with a hose out of the window.

Each visit runs to the same pattern: check the plan with you, protect the area, do the work, test what we’ve done and talk you through it. The visit itself takes a day or more, depending on the number of rooms, the pipe routes and the access.

  1. We survey the rooms and the outside of the property, or work from pictures and details for simple jobs.
  2. You receive one fixed figure covering the kit, the fitting and the positions we agreed.
  3. The indoor unit is fixed in place, the outside unit positioned, and the connecting runs put in tidily.
  4. Once the electrics are connected, the pipework is tested for leaks and put under vacuum before any refrigerant flows.
  5. The system is commissioned and checked in every mode, and we hand over the controls, F-Gas records and warranty information.

Air conditioning across NW11: local notes

Planning rules are the same across England, NW11 included: cooling-only units aren’t covered, listed buildings need consent and conservation areas restrict outdoor units facing a road.

An F-Gas certified company does the refrigerant side, and the electrics come under our NICEIC approval.

Temple Fortune: Heath Hall, about 1.3 miles east, is one of the historic houses nearby, and if your own home is listed, consent comes before any air conditioning is fixed to it. If your home is in one of the older streets near Saint Mary and Archangel Michael Church, it’s worth checking whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before an install.

Pricing air conditioning in NW11

A fixed price needs a few facts first. We check:

  • The electrical supply and whether a new circuit is needed
  • The pipe route between the units
  • What state the existing equipment is in
  • The equipment or parts the job needs

What you pay reflects the actual work. That is why every job is looked at first, and the price is agreed before we start.

What to send for a quote

To help us quote quickly, send us:

  • Where the outdoor unit is, or where you’d like it
  • Where the property is and what kind of building it is
  • Your installation or service records
  • Any error code or flashing light on the display

Want a quote for air conditioning? Please call 07833 053749 or write to us at info@aircondoctor.co.uk with a few details about the property. We’ll explain what we’d recommend and why, then send a fixed-price quote before you commit to anything.

Why it fails

Computers, screens, lighting and people all give off heat. A home office with a couple of screens, or a meeting room with a few people in it, warms up quickly, even on a mild day.

Common reasons people call us are:

  • Commercial rooms that are too warm for staff
  • Working from home in a room that gets too warm
  • A loft room or top floor that bakes in summer
  • Not knowing which system, size or brand to choose

Why deal with it now?

Putting up with another summer of portable units and fans rarely makes sense. A properly installed split moves heat outside, keeps the noisy parts out of the room and most of the time heats too, so it works for you in winter as well.

What your quote should include

  • Whose warranty applies, and on what terms
  • How VAT is shown, and which rate applies
  • Which brand and model they’re proposing, and why
  • What paperwork you’ll receive afterwards

Questions from NW11

Will I get records for the system?

Yes, on every job. A new system comes with commissioning details, F-Gas records and the manufacturer’s warranty information, while repairs and services get a written note of what was found and done.

How long does air conditioning installation take?

Allow a day for most single-room installations, with multi-split, ducted and cassette systems taking longer. The survey tells us how long your installation will need, so you can plan around it.

Why use an F-Gas certified company?

For refrigerant work, both the engineer and the company need the right F-gas credentials. Ask to see proof before booking anyone and we will gladly show you ours.

Do you have a 24/7 line?

Yes. Our emergency line runs 24/7 for problems that can’t wait for a planned visit. Ring 07833 053749 any time and explain the problem.

Can you set up regular servicing?

Yes. We offer maintenance contracts, with visits at the interval your system and the manufacturer need. Each visit is recorded and F-Gas records kept where they apply.

Do I need planning permission?

That depends on what’s being fitted and where. In England, an air source heat pump on a house can be permitted development if it meets set conditions, including the MCS 020(a) noise check, but a cooling-only unit isn’t covered, so check with the council. Listed buildings, conservation areas and flats have extra limits. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can I use air conditioning to heat a room?

Normally, yes. A heat pump moves heat from the outside air into the room, so it gives out more heat than the electricity it uses. If you want it to replace your main heating, ask about air-to-air heat pumps and the conditions for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
