Air conditioning for homes and businesses in Hampstead

Wall-mounted, multi-split, ducted and cassette systems are all part of what we install, with VRF for larger buildings. Which one suits you depends on the space, the building and how much of the unit you want to see, and we explain the options on the survey. Every installation in Hampstead begins with a look at the rooms, the walls and where the outdoor unit can go, followed by a fixed-price quote with the brand, model and every part of the job set out.

A single room takes a day in most homes, while multi-split systems for several rooms can take longer, and we leave the room clean and the controls explained.

In a London area like Hampstead, many of the homes we’re asked about are flats, maisonettes and terraced houses. So the first questions are where the outdoor unit can sit, how the pipes get to it and whose permission is needed. A freeholder or managing agent often has a say in a flat, so we write up the proposed positions for them to see.

Any work on the refrigerant circuit is recorded: the work carried out, the refrigerant involved and the quantities. File them with the system’s paperwork, as a manufacturer or a future engineer may ask to see them.

Before you call an engineer

Keep a note of anything odd: an error code, a new noise, a drip, a smell or a change in how well the system heats or cools. It makes our diagnosis quicker, and a photo of the display helps even more.

Before you call us about a fault, a few checks can save a visit: is the system in the right mode, is the set temperature sensible, are the remote’s batteries working and has the breaker tripped. If the breaker trips a second time, leave it off and give us a ring on 07833 053749, or email if that’s easier.

Air conditioning around Hampstead

Valuation Office Agency council tax records put about 68% of homes in and around Hampstead before 1919, and about 84% of households live in flats, according to the last census (2021). Older homes often have solid walls, which take longer to core drill, so we plan pipe routes carefully and keep them as discreet as we can. For a flat, we look at balconies, flat roofs and rear walls for the outdoor unit, and the lease often needs checking first. For a London home, we plan the outdoor unit position, the pipe route and any approvals before the day.

Plenty of people near Finchley Road & Frognal station split the week between the train and a spare room, and that spare room is often the first to get a unit. Homes near St John-at-Hampstead church are a good example of where we look up the heritage status of the building before fixing anything to it.

What happens on the day

Testing is the last part of the visit wherever the system can be switched on. Then we show you what we have done and answer any questions, and anything that needs a follow-up is pointed out there and then. The visit takes anything from a day for one room to several days for a multi-room or ducted system. In a London area like Hampstead, parking and access are worth sorting out before the day.

  1. You send pictures, or we visit and survey the rooms and outside.
  2. Each room is sized and the unit positions agreed, then you get a fixed-price quote.
  3. Sheets go down first, then the indoor unit and the condenser are mounted.
  4. Connections are made, checked for leaks and pulled down to a vacuum.
  5. We commission, show you the controls and leave the F-Gas and warranty paperwork.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move furniture away from the wall where we’ll be working
  • Make sure we can reach the consumer unit or fuse board
  • Mention any roof access, ladders or high-level work

Ask for a quote

VAT is set out clearly on every quote, and the rate that applies to your job is stated. Homes, businesses and different kinds of work can be treated differently for VAT, so we confirm it on the quote. For a fixed-price quote, ring 07833 053749 or fill in the contact form.

Advice

Your questions about air conditioning in Hampstead

Is Hampstead in your area for air conditioning?

Yes. Hampstead is one of the places we cover. Get in touch with the details and we reply the same working day.

Do I need permission to put air conditioning in my flat in Hampstead?

Often, yes, but the lease and the freeholder normally have a say. Permitted development rules for flats are tighter than for houses, so we check the outdoor unit position and give you the details to send to the freeholder or managing agent.

Which type of air conditioning is best?

Number of rooms, space outside and how much of the unit you want to see all decide it. Ducted units need a void or loft, and cassettes need a suspended ceiling and the survey confirms what’s possible.

When will I hear back?

You’ll hear from us the same working day. For a breakdown that can’t wait, call our 24/7 emergency line.

Are you F-Gas certified?

As the law requires for refrigerant work, we are an F-Gas certified company. We are also NICEIC approved, MCS certified for heat pumps and Checkatrade members.

Do you work on systems someone else installed?

Yes. Systems fitted by other companies are fine from all the leading brands. Send us the make and model, and any records you have.

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. We always look before we price, either on a site survey or from pictures and details for simple jobs. A fixed-price quote follows.

What happens if it’s left?

Refrigerant rules have changed what new systems use. Since 2025, new single split systems with less than 3 kg of refrigerant can’t use F gases with a GWP above 750, so new splits use refrigerants such as R32, with a GWP of 675. Older R410A systems have a GWP of 2088. Planning ahead in Hampstead means you choose the date, not the weather.

Putting the work off seldom saves money. Small problems, from blocked filters to slow leaks, tend to get worse, and a system working harder than it should costs more to run. If you’re not sure what’s needed, call us on 07833 053749 or email us for straight advice and a fixed price.

What air conditioning will not do

Air conditioning can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before any work starts. It doesn’t solve:

  • A room that can’t take an outdoor unit or pipe route without the landlord’s, management company’s or council’s consent (that consent comes first)
  • A building fabric problem such as single glazing or no loft insulation
  • Stuffy rooms that need fresh air rather than cooling

If in doubt, call 07833 053749 or use the quote form and we’ll say what we think before you book.
